About the Role

JDS Energy & Mining is seeking a motivated and experienced Field Engineer (Civil) with 4-5 years of relevant experience to support field execution on active mining and construction projects. This is a site-based, camp, FIFO role, offering hands-on involvement in heavy civil works critical to successful project delivery. The Field Engineer will act as a key link between engineering design and construction, supporting the execution of infrastructure including earthworks, roads, foundations, drainage systems, and site development. This position reflects similar roles across leading mining and EPCM organizations, where civil field engineers are essential in delivering safe, efficient, and high-quality construction in remote environments.

Key Responsibilities
  • Support execution of civil construction activities, including earthworks, grading, roads, drainage, and concrete works
  • Interpret and apply engineering drawings, specifications, and technical documents in the field
  • Coordinate survey layout, grade control, and as-built data collection
  • Monitor contractor performance to ensure compliance with project requirements, safety standards, and quality expectations
  • Track quantities, productivity, and daily progress to support reporting and cost control
  • Maintain accurate field documentation, including daily reports, inspection records, and progress updates
  • Conduct site inspections and participate in safety meetings, hazard assessments, and incident investigations
  • Collaborate with project management, engineering, procurement, and construction teams to ensure alignment and efficient execution
  • Identify and assist in resolving field issues by providing practical, constructible solutions
  • Support QA/QC processes, including inspections, testing coordination, and verification of completed work
  • Assist with material tracking, logistics coordination, and short-term planning
  • Ensure all work is performed in accordance with company policies, project specifications, and regulatory requirements
