Job Title: Civil Engineer - Transportation and Drainage Engineering Group

Location: Las Cruces, NM

As a Professional Civil Engineer (PE) in our Transportation and Drainage Engineering Group, you will be instrumental in developing and delivering critical engineering solutions by leveraging your expertise across transportation, roadway, grading/earthwork, drainage, and stormwater management. You will manage complex projects effectively from the initial concept phase through implementation.

Your Role & Responsibilities

In this role, you will lead and contribute to:
  • Project Management & Leadership - Oversee the execution of roadway and stormwater projects, ensuring they are completed on time, within budget, and to the highest quality standards.
  • Subject Matter Expertise - Apply your technical expertise to solve complex engineering challenges, providing guidance to project teams and mentoring junior engineers.
  • Hydrologic & Hydraulic Analysis - Lead detailed studies supporting solutions for stormwater infrastructure and drainage management planning.
  • Engineering Design & Modeling - Use industry-leading software (AutoCAD Civil 3D, HEC-HMS, HEC-RAS, to design and model infrastructure solutions.
  • Prepare Contract Documents- Utilize Civil 3D AutoCAD to create, design and produce construction plan sets on behalf of clients.
  • Construction Management & Cost Estimating - Support project budgeting, prepare cost estimates, and manage resources effectively throughout the project lifecycle.

  • You are currently licensed as a PE in New Mexico.
  • You have 5-10 years of demonstrated expertise and success in a similar role.
  • You have demonstrated organizational skills, excellent verbal and written communication skills, attention to detail, and can solve problems.
  • You can work independently and as an effective member of a team.
  • You can manage multiple projects and mentor/train staff.
  • You have experience managing engineering projects with public sector clients.
  • You can work in a fast-moving, team-based environment.
  • You have strong Transportation Engineering technical skills.
  • You are fluent in Civil 3D AutoCAD.
