Application close date:

Applications will be accepted on an ongoing basis until the requisition is closed.

This role is part of Blue Origin Operations, which is comprised of Integrated Supply Chain, Test Operations, Safety, Quality, and Mission Assurance. This includes Manufacturing and Supply Chain support across all Blue Origin facilities.

Blue Origin is building the next generation of orbital launch infrastructure, and several of our launch pads are in active design and construction right now. This is a civil engineering role for someone who wants to sit on the owner's side of that work: driving designs to something we can actually build, catching cross-discipline conflicts before they hit the field, and being the person the design and constructions teams call when a question needs an answer today.

You'll own civil design oversight and construction engineering support across launch pads currently in development. You'll review deliverables, walk sites during construction, and resolve field questions real time.

This is not a design-shop seat, and it is not a construction-management seat. It's the seat between them, and it's the seat that decides whether the pad gets built to intent or gets built to the path of least resistance.

We're looking for someone who:

  • Has been through a design cycle end to end
  • Wants to be in the field when the field needs an answer
  • Treats "we've always done it this way" as a starting point, not a stopping point

Key Responsibilities:

  • Own civil design oversight for launch pads currently in development. Review deliverables at every design milestone (schematic, design development, IFC) for conformance to program requirements, design intent, and construction reality
  • Act as the owner's rep to outside consultants. Drive technical direction, hold consultants to schedule and scope, resolve cross-discipline conflicts in real time
  • Provide engineering support during construction. Walk the site regularly, answer RFIs, resolve field conflicts, own the response when as-built reality diverges from the design intent
  • Produce sketch-level and spot-check civil design in AutoCAD Civil 3D to support fast turns on tie-ins, redlines, feasibility studies, and small design changes
  • Coordinate with adjacent disciplines (structural, mechanical, electrical, fluids) to keep the multi-disciplinary picture coherent through design and construction
  • Support permitting and regulatory work on active pads: SWPPP compliance, dewatering permits, agency coordination during construction, response to permit conditions as they land in the field
  • Help develop statements of work and technical scope for civil design and construction engineering activities
  • Use BIM workflows to keep site and facility design coordinated across disciplines during design development and construction
  • Identify project risks early, surface them, and drive them to closure

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering or related engineering discipline
  • 3+ years of professional experience in civil engineering design, design review, or construction engineering support (site development, grading, drainage, utilities)
  • Proficiency in AutoCAD Civil 3D
  • Willingness to travel to current-development launch sites: frequent day trips and the occasional longer stint
  • Strong communication: written, verbal, and the kind where you have to talk a contractor off a bad decision without burning the relationship
  • Comfortable rapidly changing roles and priorities in a high-paced, ambiguous environment
  • Must be a U.S. citizen or permanent resident (current Green Card holder)
  • Ability to obtain and maintain badging at government installations (Cape Canaveral SFS, KSC)
  • Ability to perform hands-on field work in heat, cold, rain, tight quarters, or at heights

Preferred Qualifications

  • EIT certificate or Professional Engineer (PE) license, or actively pursuing
  • Experience with site development for aerospace, industrial, defense, or other heavy infrastructure projects
  • Owner's-rep experience: sitting on the sponsor side of A/E design contracts, driving deliverables from schematic through IFC
  • Construction engineering support experience: RFI response, field engineering, as-built reconciliation
  • Working knowledge of adjacent disciplines (electrical, geotechnical, structural, surveying, piping) sufficient to spot when something doesn't add up at the interface
  • BIM software (Autodesk BIM 360 / Construction Cloud, Navisworks, Revit) and/or Bluebeam fluency
  • Hydraulic and hydrologic modeling (ICPR, WaterGEMS, or similar) sufficient to sanity-check consultant deliverables
  • Background in coastal engineering or Florida-specific environmental regulations
  • Familiarity with permitting and land-use coordination with government agencies (state, federal, military), particularly construction-phase compliance
  • Experience with design-build project delivery and managing competitive bid processes
  • Experience with project scoping, budgeting, and scheduling on active construction
