Within the Industrial, Construction, and Major Projects, as a Civil Engineer:

Our client and its subsidiaries require the services of a Civil Engineer to join its team to help support the Regulated Engineering Services team at NL Hydro. The individual would support the execution of Capital projects for NL Hydro assets throughout Newfoundland.

The candidate will work within the Civil Engineering group to help execute projects within NL Hydro's Regulated portfolio. The work for this position will include performing all aspects of project design from the conceptual stage and prefeasibility studies through to final design. The successful candidate will prepare budget estimates, work orders, material and equipment orders and contract documents. Work will also include evaluation and recommendation for contract awards and performance of construction management duties for assigned projects. In addition to ongoing capital projects, the successful candidate will review and support the development of capital budget applications, while coordinating with a multi-discipline team to perform estimates and develop the technical justification for proposed work for NL Hydro's regulated infrastructure. Experience in civil engineering design and construction/refurbishment of building envelopes, fuel storage facilities, steel structures, road infrastructure and/or concrete structures would be an asset.

Qualifications
  • Graduation from a recognized university with a Bachelor of Engineering Degree (Civil);
  • with a minimum of 5 years' experience since graduation;
  • Membership in the Professional Engineers and Geoscientists of Newfoundland and
  • Labrador (PEGNL) as a professional engineer;
  • Willingness to travel approximately 4-6 weeks a year;
  • Proven and demonstrated communication skills;
  • Ability to thrive as a participant within a multi-discipline team of both internal and external resources;
  • Relevant experience in design, implementation and troubleshooting;
  • Experience in developing and managing engineering consultant contracts;
  • Experience in developing and managing construction contracts;
  • Experience in engineering project estimates.
