Full Job Description
Assembly is hiring a CPO to lead product strategy, roadmap, and execution across the platform, reporting directly to the CEO. This is a highly hands-on, commercially oriented product leadership role. The CPO will partner closely with the CEO and EVP of Engineering, IT and Infosec, serving as a peer to engineering while bringing strong customer, market, and commercial perspective to the organization. The role sits at the center of Assembly's next chapter: shaping how the company uses proprietary data, workflow intelligence, and applied AI to define the future of legal technology.
This leader will bring focus, conviction, and clarity to a rapidly evolving product portfolio while helping the organization scale its next generation of AI-enabled products and modern product development practices.
The role is well suited to a product executive who wants to operate in a lean, high-impact environment. The product organization today includes product management, design, product operations, product marketing, and customer enablement resources, and this leader must be comfortable operating both strategically and tactically-setting vision, managing prioritization, engaging deeply with customers, and staying close to roadmap execution.
Role Responsibilities
Product Strategy and Roadmap
• Establish the product vision and strategy for Assembly's platform, leveraging its unique data assets and deep legal workflow expertise.
• Define what customers should do, when, and why in order to create a more intelligent, outcome-driven product experience.
• Build and own a roadmap tied directly to customer value, ROI, and business outcomes.
• Help shape how AI is embedded both within the customer experience and internally across product development and delivery workflows.
• Translate long-term strategy into a practical, executable roadmap while preserving delivery momentum.
Commercialization and Customer Engagement
• Partner closely with Sales and Customer Success to define and articulate value, support ROI-driven selling, and drive customer expansion.
• Lead product positioning, launch readiness, and value proposition development in close partnership with go-to-market leadership.
• Strengthen alignment between product and commercial functions so that roadmap priorities, customer feedback, and market messaging reinforce one another.
Execution and Operating Cadence
• Establish strong product operating rhythms, prioritization discipline, and accountability against clearly defined business and product outcomes.
• Develop and manage product objectives and KPIs tied to adoption, customer impact, platform modernization, and commercial performance.
• Partner closely with the EVP of Engineering, IT and Infosec and engineering team to support predictable delivery and ongoing platform evolution.
• Continue evolving Assembly's modern AI-enabled product development practices, including rapid prototyping, customer feedback loops, accelerated iteration cycles, and AI-assisted development workflows.
• Balance modernization, new product development, and customer-driven needs in a resource-conscious environment.
Cross-Functional Leadership
• Serve as a key partner to the CEO, EVP of Engineering, IT and Infosec, and commercial leadership team.
• Bring structure and prioritization rigor across competing initiatives and stakeholder priorities.
• Ensure product is a central voice in company strategy and that customer insights are translated into business decisions.
Team Leadership and Product Maturity
• Lead and develop a lean, high-impact product organization that currently includes a small team across product, design, product operations, and product marketing support.
• Elevate product management practices, including discovery, prioritization, and execution discipline.
• Build a high-performance culture suited to a PE-backed, growth-stage environment.
