Chief Philanthropy Officer
Full-Time | Open Door Mission | Omaha, NE

Open Door Mission is seeking a dynamic and mission-driven Chief Philanthropy Officer (CPO) to lead the organization's fundraising strategy, donor engagement, and philanthropic growth. This executive leadership role is responsible for ensuring the financial sustainability of the Mission by developing innovative fundraising strategies, cultivating transformational donor relationships, and building high-performing teams and systems that advance long-term ministry impact.

As a key member of the leadership team, the CPO partners closely with the President/CEO, Board of Directors, donors, church leaders, and community partners to secure the resources needed to help individuals and families break the cycle of homelessness and poverty.

Key Responsibilities
Revenue Strategy & Fundraising
  • Develop and execute a comprehensive fundraising strategy.
  • Oversee major gifts, planned giving, events, grants, and community partnerships.
  • Forecast revenue, monitor performance, and achieve fundraising goals.

Donor Engagement & Stewardship
  • Manage relationships with key donors and strategic partners.
  • Strengthen donor retention, engagement, and long-term investment.
  • Ensure meaningful stewardship and impact reporting.

Executive Leadership
  • Partner with the President/CEO on fundraising strategy and donor engagement.
  • Equip senior leaders and board members for effective fundraising involvement.
  • Provide strategic insights and performance reporting to executive leadership.

Team Leadership & Operations
  • Lead, coach, and develop the philanthropy and communications team.
  • Establish performance goals, accountability measures, and development plans.
  • Ensure strong fundraising systems, CRM management, and operational excellence.

  • Promote a mission-focused, donor-centered culture across the organization.

What We're Looking For

Required
  • Bachelor's degree in Marketing, Public Relations, Communications, Business, Nonprofit Management, or a related field.
  • Proven success securing major gifts and leading large-scale fundraising initiatives.

Preferred
  • Experience working with boards, churches, and community leaders.
  • Background in capital campaigns, planned giving, and foundation relations.
  • Experience with CRM systems and data-driven fundraising strategies.
  • Advanced degree in nonprofit management, business, theology, ministry, or a related field.
