Broward Health North in Deerfield Beach is a 409-bed hospital that provides a full continuum of care to residents in northern Broward County. Services include a comprehensive stroke center, an adult Level II trauma center, a neurological institute, a joint replacement center, cardiovascular services, a rehabilitation institute, as well as general, vascular, endovascular and neurosurgery. Broward Health North continues to grow: in 2026 it opened a freestanding emergency department in nearby Lighthouse Point, and it has broken ground on a new six-story, 127,000-square-foot medical office building on its main campus - one of the health system's first major construction projects in nearly 30 years - that will bring cardiovascular, neuroscience, orthopedic and additional specialty services together on-site when it opens in 2027.

Summary:

Reporting to the Chief Executive Officer, the Broward Health North (BHN) Chief Operations Officer provides the leadership and management necessary to ensure the organization has proper operational controls, administrative reporting, procedures and human capital in place to effectively grow and to ensure financial strength and operating efficiency. This individual provides authority for planning and evaluating the operation of services in various departments of the hospital region to ensure attainment of region goals and objectives. Support adherence to BH's compliance and ethics program, policies, procedures and Code of Conduct.

Essential Functions include but not limited to:

  • Strategy & Planning-Provide proactive strategic leadership through the development of a comprehensive discipline-specific/region-specific strategic to support Broward Health strategic objectives, initiatives, mission, vision, and goals. Provide for on-going oversight to evaluate and strategically respond to developments/changes affecting strategies and operations.
  • Operations Management-Provide leadership and oversight to ensure effective and efficient execution of BHN operational plans aligned with hospital and system-wide strategic goals, applicable laws, regulations, and governmental requirements. Improve the organization's capability through a planned process to align various aspects of the organization to meet its goals.
  • Regulatory & Accreditation-Ensure operational readiness and compliance with applicable federal, state, local, regulatory, licensing, and accreditation requirements, including preparation for surveys and implementation of corrective action plans.
  • Leadership-Establish and maintain positive, productive, and collaborative relationships with internal and external partners to support an engaged and inclusive culture and advance the Broward Health mission, vision, financial strategic objectives, and business goals.
  • Financial Management-Accountable for the key financial indicators of assigned operation areas through planning, developing, organizing, implementing, directing, and continuously evaluating their fiscal function and performance.
  • Human Resources-Oversee the effective utilization of Broward Health's employee partners/workforce throughout the system. Assist the organization, manage change, and align people, processes, and practices for success.
