Chief Operating OfficerPosition Summary: The Chief Operating Officer is a senior member of the executive team responsible for the day-to-day operations of the practice and for building the scalable systems that support its growth. The COO leads clinic and ancillary operations; drives operational and financial performance across all sites; and partners closely with physician leadership to deliver an excellent, consistent patient experience. As OrthoArizona expands through new locations and affiliations with other practices, the COO will lead the operational integration of that growth and translate strategy into repeatable, well-run operations.
Key Responsibilities:- Lead all clinical and business operations across clinic locations and ancillary service lines, with direct oversight of regional and site operations leaders.
- Standardize workflows, staffing models, and service expectations so every patient receives the same high-quality experience regardless of location.
- Improve patient access, scheduling, provider template utilization, and clinic throughput.
- Establish operating metrics and dashboards, hold leaders accountable to them, and drive continuous improvement.
- Partner with the CEO and executive team on growth strategy, including new sites, service line expansion, and affiliations with other practices.
- Lead operational due diligence on growth opportunities and build integration playbooks covering staffing, systems, workflows, and culture.
- Oversee the operational launch of new locations and the transition of affiliated practices onto shared platforms, on time and on budget.
- Oversee performance of imaging, therapy, pain management, urgent care, and sports performance service lines.
- Own operating budgets and site-level P&L performance in partnership with Finance.
- Manage labor productivity, supply chain, and vendor costs while protecting quality and service.
- Collaborate with Revenue Cycle leadership on front-end processes that affect collections, including registration, eligibility, and authorizations.
- Build trusted working relationships with physician partners and providers, and support physician governance and committees.
- Align operational decisions with physician priorities and communicate clearly and transparently on performance.
- Develop a strong operations leadership bench, including succession planning and leader development.
- Partner with Human Resources on workforce planning, recruitment, retention, and engagement.
- Work with Compliance and Quality to ensure operations meet regulatory, accreditation, safety, and privacy requirements.
- Partner with IT and Facilities on EHR and practice management optimization, technology rollouts, and facility projects.
Minimum Qualifications: - Bachelor's degree in healthcare administration, business, or a related field.
- 10+ years of progressive healthcare operations leadership, including 5+ years at the senior executive level (COO, VP of Operations, or equivalent).
- Experience leading a multi-site medical group or physician practice.
- Demonstrated ownership of operating budgets and P&L results.
- Track record of working effectively with physicians and physician governance.
Preferred Qualifications: - Master's degree (MBA, MHA, or similar).
- Experience in orthopedics or musculoskeletal care.
- Experience with ancillary services such as imaging and therapy.
- Experience integrating acquired or affiliated practices, or operating in a management services model.
- Professional credentials such as FACMPE or FACHE.
