Full Job Description
Job Summary:
The Chief of staff for a Division I Women's Basketball program plays a key role in the strategic and operational success of the team and all student-athletes in the program. This position will primarily assist with the external facing portions of the program while in a parallel fashion, support the student-athletes development within the program. This individual is responsible for overseeing administrative functions, being the direct liaison with the fundraising and marketing departments on campus and within athletics, as well as assisting the WBB General Manager from an NIL and Revenue Sharing standpoint within Women's Basketball. This individual will also assist the head coach in terms of community, donor, and fan engagement; working to build new partnerships and helping find new ways to increase overall support for the program from both a financial and branding perspective.

Key Responsibilities:

Program Administration & Operations: 30%
  • Assist Head Coach and DOBO in overseeing all off court-activities for the program, including guiding and assisting student athletes in utilizing the resources available to develop the skills they need to balance the demands of academics, athletics, and community outreach while focusing on leadership & personal development.
  • Work with compliance regarding donor, NIL, and other requests to ensure that all activities meet NCAA, Campus, and Athletics Department policies.
  • Coordinate directly with marketing and media relations to promote the program.
  • Assist General Manager with Student-Athlete Name, Image, & Likeness as well as Revenue Sharing for both current athletes and prospective student-athletes.
  • Develop community outreach programming and then coordinate community engagement and volunteer initiatives for student-athletes and staff, strengthening the program's connection to the broader community.
  • Oversee donor and alumni relations. Collaborate with Student-Athlete Development, M Club and Golden Gopher Foundation (GGF) to identify, cultivate, and steward donors for the WBB program and stay connected to WBB alumni.

Basketball/Game Day Experience: 30%
  • Collaborate with Gopher Digital Production Team (GDP) to create exciting & energetic video clips and highlights for external audiences such as season ticket holders and donors.
  • Assist GGF on a regular & ongoing basis pertaining to the basketball program and all affiliations.
  • Work directly with ticketing/marketing as a liason from the WBB staff in terms of assisting the game day experience, driving ticket sales, and helping showcase the team both in person and when watching on TV.

Student-Athlete Experience: 30%
  • Lead alumni engagement efforts, creating meaningful opportunities for former student-athletes to stay connected and involved with the program while also helping current student-athletes connect with mentors and future job opportunities.
  • Assist and evaluate current rosters 'brand' from an external point of view and work directly with the student-athletes to help them maximize their opportunities while a student-athlete at Minnesota and after graduation.
  • Assist HC and Staff with the WBB "Elevate" program, including identifying and securing speakers and programming for theme games, summer development, and other student-athlete development opportunities.

Compliance and Governance: 10%
  • Adhere to and support full compliance with NCAA, CSC, B1G, and University rules, policies, and procedures.
  • Work in coordination with the staff, compliance, and athletics administration to ensure all program related operations are conducted appropriately.

Working Conditions & Schedule:
• Evening, weekend, and holiday work may be required based on team schedule.
• Travel may be required but the Chief of Staff must have the ability to perform work in office, event, practice, competition, travel, and remote settings.

Qualifications

Qualifications & Requirements:
  • Bachelor's degree Preferred in Marketing, Branding, Business, Business Administration, Communications, Sports Management, or Public Relations or a combination of related education and work experience to equal four years.

Preferred Qualifications & Requirements:
  • 5+ years of experience in marketing, development, or athletics administration/related role.


Pay and Benefits

Pay Range: $80,000-$120,000 ; depending on education/qualifications/experience

Time Appointment: 100% Appointment
