Full Job Description
Reporting to the Chief Policy Officer (CPO), the Chief of Staff will serve as a trusted strategic advisor, playing a key role in advancing our most critical initiatives, while driving operational effectiveness for the Policy team, owning planning, budgeting, headcount management, and team coordination.

The ideal candidate is a master of cross-functional leadership, a practiced decision-maker, determined problem solver, and is highly capable of navigating competing demands and priorities while executing the strategic priorities of the CPO.
Responsibilities:
  • Lead day-to-day operations and strategic planning; ranging from administrative approvals and task management, prioritizing meeting schedules, preparing and reviewing materials for executives, developing weekly and quarterly reports, overseeing annual planning and budgeting, and continuous monitoring of organizational design
  • Communicate priorities, activities, and results to the larger organization, while ensuring deliverables are met
  • Help build a successful and healthy organization: find knowledge and skills gaps and help address them, design optimal workflows, and align internal processes
  • Develop a thorough understanding of Product, Operations, Legal, Finance, and overall strategic needs of the company. Based on this, drive the priorities of the CPO by leading weekly team meetings, organizing and running team offsites, and identifying opportunities to increase leadership team effectiveness
  • Serve as a strategic thought partner to the CPO and Public Policy leadership team
  • Maintain a pulse on team morale and culture by being the eyes and ears of the CPO within the organization and developing informal and formal feedback loops to identify unmet team needs
  • Identify and lead special projects to ensure that new, unanticipated, or emerging issues do not fall through the cracks
  • Gather and analyze relevant data to generate insights, identify trends, and support evidence-based decision-making at the executive level
  • Collaborate with leadership team and colleagues (People, Finance, etc.) to drive employee satisfaction, headcount efficiency, professional development training, facilities planning, etc.
Experience:
  • The ideal candidate is a proven leader and has hands-on experience in the following areas: strategic planning, process improvement, project management, financial planning, organizational change, and internal communications
  • Ability to comfortably dive into any area of the business or product, understand business needs, and facilitate executive decisions based on changing priorities
  • 7+ years experience in a combination of operations, product management, strategy, finance, consulting, government or an equivalent field
  • Low ego and low drama, with the ability to be a good sounding board for others and anticipate the needs of a busy executive and his/her direct staff
  • Proven ability to track, prioritize, and drive multiple concurrent projects to successful completion. This position is expected to utilize data and metrics to communicate needs with the ease of a business unit owner
  • Excellent communicator in written and verbal form; ability to work well with executives, and able to lead and influence across multiple levels and multiple functions of an organization
  • Entrepreneurial, adaptable, high tolerance for ambiguity and complexity, and effective with limited resources
  • Proven experience designing and leading strategic planning at a growth company
  • Financial prowess and ability to create budgets and analyze financial models
  • This role requires past experience in staffing or working directly with the C-suite/SVP level on a regular basis
  • Highest level of integrity, trust, and ability to manage confidential information

The expected base pay range for this position in the Washington D.C. area is $156,000 - $195,000, not inclusive of potential equity offering, bonus or benefits. Salary ranges are dependent on a variety of factors, including qualifications, experience and geographic location.
