The Chief of Staff, Office of the CEO and President provides leadership and operational support to the President & CEO in advancing organizational priorities and ensuring effective execution of key initiatives. Serving as a trusted advisor and liaison to the CEO, this role coordinates executive priorities, facilitates cross-functional collaboration, and drives accountability for organizational commitments and initiatives.

The Chief of Staff works closely with executive leaders to support alignment, decision-making, communication, and follow-through on enterprise priorities. The role is responsible for developing and maintaining performance tracking tools, coordinating executive governance and leadership processes, supporting executive performance management activities, and monitoring progress against key organizational goals.

This position serves as a central point of coordination for the Office of the President, ensuring effective communication, operational efficiency, and organizational alignment across departments. The Chief of Staff partners with leaders throughout the organization to facilitate implementation of strategic and operational initiatives, identify and resolve barriers to execution, and provide leadership reporting that supports informed decision-making and organizational performance.

Minimum Education

Bachelor's Degree in Business, Health Administration or a related field (Required)

Minimum Work Experience

At least twelve years of progressively responsible experience in healthcare administration, executive operations, strategic initiative execution, project management, or organizational leadership, including experience supporting senior leaders and leading cross-functional initiatives in a complex organization. Functional Accountabilities

Executive Support to the President & CEO ("CEO")
  • Serve as a trusted advisor to the CEO on operational, organizational, and executive-priority matters.
  • Assess, prioritize, and coordinate issues requiring CEO engagement and decision-making.
  • Gather information, synthesize findings, and prepare recommendations to support executive decision-making.
  • Enhance organizational effectiveness by streamlining processes, communications, and follow-up on executive priorities.
  • Act as a liaison between the CEO and executive leaders to facilitate communication, alignment, and resolution of issues.
  • Monitor progress on CEO and executive leadership priorities and facilitate accountability for deliverables and outcomes.
  • Coordinate executive leadership meetings, leadership councils, and cross-functional committees.
  • Support executive agenda management and leadership planning activities.
  • Assist with executive goal-setting, performance review processes, and leadership development planning.
  • Prepare executive-level reports, presentations, and briefing materials.
  • Represent the Office of the President in meetings and organizational initiatives as delegated by the CEO.


ExecutiveCommunications
  • Partner with Marketing and Communications to support executive messaging and leadership communications.
  • Develop presentations, speeches, talking points, and executive correspondence on behalf of the CEO.
  • Ensure alignment of executive communications with organizational priorities and approved strategic objectives.
  • Coordinate communication efforts related to major organizational initiatives, leadership announcements, and stakeholder engagements.
  • Support preparation of materials for Board meetings, executive leadership meetings, community events, and external engagements.


Strategic Execution and Enterprise Coordination
  • Support the execution, monitoring, and reporting of enterprise strategic priorities approved by the CEO, Executive Leadership Team, Board of Directors, and Office of Strategy.
  • Facilitate cross-functional coordination to support timely execution of strategic and operational initiatives across the organization.
  • Monitor initiative milestones, dependencies, risks, and outcomes, escalating issues as appropriate.
  • Develop and maintain executive dashboards, scorecards, and reporting tools to track organizational priorities and performance indicators.
  • Coordinate enterprise action plans and ensure leaders are aligned around key objectives, deliverables, and timelines.
  • Identify and remove barriers that may impede execution of organizational priorities.
  • Lead special projects and initiatives on behalf of the Office of the President that require executive coordination and organizational alignment.
  • Facilitate follow-through on decisions made by the CEO and Executive Leadership Team and monitor progress toward expected outcomes.
  • Partner with the Office of Strategy to support implementation and organizational adoption of approved strategic initiatives.
  • Provide regular updates to executive leadership regarding progress, risks, dependencies, and resource needs associated with strategic priorities.

Executive Operations and Governance Support
  • Coordinate meeting preparation, materials, follow-up actions, and reporting related to executive leadership activities.
  • Support governance activities through preparation of reports, presentations, analyses, and executive materials.
  • Assist with planning and coordination of executive retreats, strategic work sessions, leadership forums, and organizational planning meetings.
  • Maintain tracking mechanisms for organizational goals, executive commitments, and enterprise initiatives.
  • Facilitate communication and collaboration among executive leaders and key stakeholders.
  • Support organizational effectiveness initiatives and process improvement efforts that strengthen enterprise execution and accountability.


Other
  • Support executive recruitment, onboarding, and leadership transition activities as needed.
  • Manage the budget and administrative operations of the Office of the President.
  • Partner closely with Human Resources, Finance, Strategy, Operations, Philanthropy, Government Affairs, Marketing, and Communications to advance organizational priorities.
  • Perform other duties and special projects as assigned by the CEO.


The disclosed salary range includes the minimum and maximum rates within which Children's National believes an individual's base pay rate will fall for this position. It is not typical for an individual to be hired at or near the maximum of the pay range. The exact pay rate for this position will be based on a variety of factors in alignment with the Children's National compensation philosophy. These factors are legitimate and non-discriminatory including, but not limited to, the current market conditions; organizational needs; the individual's combination of prior work experience, level of education, knowledge, skills, and other qualifications. Children's National is committed to providing a fair and competitive total rewards package to each of our employees. This base salary range does not include our comprehensive benefits package or any additional compensation for which this position may be eligible.
