POSITION OVERVIEW

The Chief of Staff - Strategic Operations of Hope Villages of America (HVA) serves as a trusted advisor and strategic partner to the President & CEO, helping turn organizational strategy into coordinated action across HVA's programs and departments. Based in Clearwater, Florida, HVA serves individuals and families throughout the community through Food Distribution and Basic Needs, The Haven Domestic Violence Services, and Housing Stability Services.

Reporting directly to the President & CEO, the Chief of Staff strengthens the Leadership Team's effectiveness and accountability, coordinates strategic priorities and cross-functional initiatives, and supports strong communication between executive leadership and the Board of Directors. The Chief of Staff brings a commitment to HVA's vision of a stronger, more compassionate community where everyone has a chance to thrive, and fosters a culture of accountability, collaboration, communication, and continuous improvement.

POSITION SUMMARY

Executive Leadership
• Serves as a trusted advisor and strategic partner to the President & CEO.
• Translates the President & CEO's priorities and HVA's organizational strategy into clear plans, responsibilities, timelines, and measurable outcomes.
• Provides the President & CEO with timely information, analysis, and recommendations on important organizational matters.
• Identifies issues requiring executive attention and facilitates solutions across departments.
• Represents the President & CEO internally when appropriate.

Leadership Team Coordination
• Works alongside the President & CEO to support the effectiveness and accountability of HVA's Leadership Team.
• Facilitates effective communication and collaboration among department leaders across food, domestic violence, and housing programs, as well as administrative functions.
• Coordinates Leadership Team meetings, priorities, action items, and follow-up.
• Ensures major organizational commitments have clear ownership and timelines.
• Helps resolve cross-department issues and removes barriers to execution.
• Promotes a culture of accountability, collaboration, communication, and continuous improvement.

Strategic Planning & Execution
• Coordinates the implementation and ongoing monitoring of HVA's strategic priorities.
• Develops systems to track organizational goals, initiatives, projects, and performance measures.
• Works with senior leaders to identify opportunities to improve organizational effectiveness.
• Leads or coordinates major strategic and cross-functional initiatives.
• Provides regular updates to the President & CEO on progress, challenges, risks, and opportunities.

Organizational Operations
• Coordinates initiatives involving multiple departments or areas of responsibility.
• Ensures organizational decisions are effectively communicated and implemented.
• Identifies operational gaps, inefficiencies, or areas in need of improved coordination.
• Clarifies responsibility and accountability when projects span multiple departments.
• Leads special projects and organizational initiatives assigned by the President & CEO.

Board & Governance Support

Supports the President & CEO in maintaining an effective, well-coordinated partnership with HVA's Board of Directors and its committees.
• Assists the President & CEO in preparing for meetings of the Board of Directors and Executive Committee.
• Coordinates with staff responsible for Board materials, financial information, program reports, governance requirements, and meeting preparation.
• Ensures timely follow-through on Board and committee action items.
• Supports effective communication between executive leadership and the Board.
• Ensures HVA's recurring Board responsibilities, including meeting materials, annual policies, Board orientation, governance training, conflict of interest disclosures, and Board evaluations, remain coordinated and on schedule, working through responsible staff rather than performing each administrative task personally.

Education and Experience
• Bachelor's degree in Nonprofit Management, Business Administration, Public Administration, Organizational Leadership, or a related field; advanced degree a plus.
• Minimum 5 years of progressively responsible leadership experience, including cross-functional project management, operations, or strategic planning; experience in a Chief of Staff, operations, or executive advisory role preferred.
• Demonstrated ability to translate strategy into operational plans, track performance measures, and hold teams accountable for results.
• Experience supporting a Board of Directors and working knowledge of nonprofit governance practices.
• Knowledge of human and/or social services, such as food security, domestic violence services, or housing stability, is a plus. Familiarity with the Pinellas County and Tampa Bay nonprofit community is a plus.
• Exceptional communication, facilitation, and relationship-building skills, with sound judgment and the discretion to handle confidential information.

Physical Requirements

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently required to do the following:
• Ability to stand for prolonged periods of time at events, meetings, or presentations
• Ability to walk through program sites, including food distribution and warehouse areas
• Local travel between HVA program sites and community meetings in the Clearwater area is required; overnight travel is limited.

Requirements
• Pass a Level 2 background check.
• Valid Driver's license and proof of motor vehicle insurance for occasional travel.
• Successful completion of a pre-employment drug screen.
• Employees are responsible for timely transportation to and from all community events, training, and presentations.
• Schedule flexibility for evenings, weekends, and holidays.

SALARY & BENEFITS

The salary range is $100,000 - $125,000, depending on education and experience.
• Healthcare Benefits: Medical, dental, and vision coverage, with HVA paying 90% of the employee premium. HVA also pays 50% of the GAP insurance premium.
• Employer-Paid Life Insurance: $25,000 in employee Life Insurance.
• Supplemental Insurance: Accident, Critical Illness, Cancer, and Short-Term Disability Insurance available.
• Telehealth: Free telehealth and tele-mental health services.
• Healthcare Eligibility: Healthcare insurance enrollment is available on the first day of the month after 60 days of employment.
• Retirement: Ability to contribute to the organization's retirement plan. The employer will contribute by matching 50% of the employee contribution, up to 4% of the employee's earnings after 90 days of employment.
• Paid Holidays: 12 paid holidays provided by the organization.
• Paid Time Off (PTO): 80 hours of PTO at hire.
• Sick Leave: Two (2) paid sick days per year.
