Chief Nursing Officer (CNO)

Lead Nursing Excellence in a Patient-Centered Rural Community

The Role

The Chief Nursing Officer (CNO) is a pivotal executive leader responsible for overseeing all aspects of nursing care across the organization. As a key member of the administrative team, you will report directly to the Chief Executive Officer and hold 24/7 oversight for the nursing and other assigned clinical areas. You will be the primary architect of patient care standards and nursing practice, ensuring the delivery of safe, high-quality care throughout the organization.

Key Responsibilities
  • Strategic Leadership: Develop and communicate a strategic vision for patient care that aligns with organizational goals, collaborating closely with the cross-functional leadership team.
  • Clinical Quality and Safety: Establish a standard of excellence for clinical services, ensuring all practices are evidence-based and meet regulatory compliance.
  • Operations Management: Oversee daily activities of nursing and assigned departments, managing resource allocation, workflows, and the hospital nurse staffing plan.
  • Quality Improvement: Lead and initiate activities to improve patient outcomes and hospital efficiencies while encouraging staff to streamline care processes.
  • Financial Oversight: Analyze financial data, participate in budget planning, and manage department resources efficiently.
  • Engagement: Promote a patient-centered environment by encouraging family feedback and actively participating in community engagement and professional organizations.

  • Education: Bachelor's degree in Nursing (BSN) is required; a Master's degree in nursing or a related healthcare field is preferred.

  • Experience: At least five years of clinical experience and three years of nursing leadership experience in a hospital setting.
  • Competencies: Strong knowledge of nursing practice, legal and regulatory healthcare issues, and a proven ability to solve complex problems and mentor team members.
