Job Description

Job Title: Chief Inspector

Location: San Antonio, Texas

As the Chief Inspector, LEAP, you will oversee the inspection, release, and certification of products processed within the business unit, ensuring compliance with company policies, regulatory requirements, customer specifications, and legal standards. In this role, you will lead inspection personnel, oversee qualification and certification programs, support continuous improvement initiatives, and promote a culture of safety, quality, and regulatory compliance.

What You'll Do
  • Lead and oversee inspection, release, and certification activities to ensure compliance with regulatory, customer, OEM, and company requirements.
  • Monitor inspector qualifications, certifications, and performance to ensure ongoing compliance and operational readiness.
  • Promote and support the Safety Management System (SMS), including reporting safety concerns and participating in risk assessments for flight and product safety.
  • Serve as the inspection liaison with regulatory authorities, as directed by the Person Responsible for Maintenance (PRM).
  • Partner with Production leadership to coordinate inspection resources, provide performance feedback, and support production objectives.
  • Provide technical guidance to inspection personnel and interpret inspection policies, procedures, and regulatory requirements.
  • Administer inspector approvals, certification records, inspection stamps, and recurring qualification requirements.
  • Develop, deliver, and support training and mentoring programs to ensure consistent inspection practices and employee development.
  • Lead troubleshooting efforts, root cause investigations, and continuous improvement initiatives to strengthen inspection processes and product quality.
  • Monitor inspection capacity, participate in business unit planning, support special projects, and perform inspection duties as needed to meet operational goals.


Basic Qualifications
  • 7+ years of experience in aviation maintenance, inspection, or quality within an FAA-regulated aerospace environment.
  • 3+ years of leadership or supervisory experience overseeing inspection personnel or quality teams.
  • 3+ years of experience working with FAA regulations, airworthiness requirements, OEM specifications, and aviation quality systems.
  • Experience reading, interpreting, and applying technical manuals, engineering drawings, specifications, and regulatory documentation.
  • Must be authorized to work in the United States without current or future sponsorship.
  • High school diploma or GED required.


Desired Characteristics
  • FAA Airframe and Powerplant (A&P) Certificate.
  • Previous experience serving as a Chief Inspector or in a senior quality leadership role.
  • Strong leadership, coaching, and mentoring skills.
  • Experience working directly with FAA representatives or other regulatory authorities.
  • Knowledge of Safety Management Systems (SMS), Continuous Improvement, Lean, or Root Cause Analysis methodologies.
  • Excellent communication, collaboration, and organizational skills.
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced production environment.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities.
