Reporting to the Senior Director, Human Resources, the incumbent is responsible for defining and implementing strategies related to health, safety, and attendance management. They provide leadership for prevention programs, workplace injury management, disability management, accommodation, and return-to-work initiatives, while promoting a culture of respect, prevention, and continuous improvement.

What You Will Accomplish
  • Develop and implement strategies, programs, and performance indicators related to health, safety, and attendance management.
  • Ensure compliance with applicable health and safety legislation and regulatory requirements.
  • Lead, engage, and develop a multidisciplinary team specializing in occupational health and safety and attendance management.
  • Oversee investigations related to incidents, workplace accidents, and occupational illnesses, and ensure the implementation of corrective actions.
  • Develop strategies to reduce risks, prevent workplace injuries, and foster a safe work environment.
  • Oversee the integrated management of workplace injury claims, disability cases, accommodation requests, and functional limitations.
  • Implement disability management and return-to-work strategies that support sustainable and safe employee reintegration.
  • Advise and support managers in complex situations involving employee health, attendance management, and accommodation obligations.
  • Play a leadership role in the prevention of workplace violence and harassment and support the implementation of related programs and initiatives.
  • Collaborate with union representatives, insurers, external service providers, and various stakeholders to ensure effective risk and attendance management.
  • Monitor performance indicators, costs, and trends to help guide organizational priorities and decision-making.


Qualifications

What You Bring
  • University degree in Labour Relations, Human Resources, Occupational Health and Safety, or a related field.
  • Significant experience in a leadership role involving occupational health and safety, disability management, and attendance management.
  • Proven experience leading teams and supporting managers in a unionized environment.
  • Strong knowledge of federal and provincial legislation and regulations related to occupational health and safety, disability management, and return-to-work practices.
  • Excellent leadership, influence, change management, and problem-solving skills.
  • Strategic mindset with a strong focus on results and continuous improvement.
  • Excellent communication and relationship-building skills.
  • Fluency in both French and English, spoken and written. *A good knowledge of French is required for positions in Quebec. The incumbent will be required to communicate and collaborate frequently in English, both orally and in writing, with colleagues, customers, and other stakeholders in Quebec, the rest of Canada, and internationally.
