Job Description

The Role:

As the Chief Financial Officer - Operations - North Division, you will serve as the senior finance leader responsible for overseeing the critical finance support functions that sustain ministries and organizations across the division. From long-range financial planning and capital strategy to forecasting, budgeting, analytics, costing, and performance reporting, you will play a central role in ensuring the financial strength and operational success of the division.

Working closely with regional, divisional, and system leadership, you will lead teams responsible for financial planning, analytics, reporting, and operational finance support while serving as the primary liaison to system financial planning and analytics teams. This role requires a collaborative leader who can translate complex financial information into strategic insights that guide decision-making and support Providence's mission and long-term objectives.

What You'll Do:

• Financial Strategist: Lead the development and execution of financial plans that support divisional priorities, operational performance, and long-term organizational sustainability.
• Planning and Forecasting Expert: Oversee long-range planning, forecasting, budgeting, capital planning, productivity analysis, and financial performance reporting across the division.
• Analytics and Insights Leader: Transform financial and operational data into actionable insights that support decision-making, identify opportunities, and strengthen business performance.
• Operational Finance Partner: Provide leadership and coordination for key finance functions that support ministries, service areas, and divisional operations while ensuring timely and accurate reporting.
• Business Opportunity Evaluator: Lead the development of financial analyses, business cases, and pro forma evaluations that support strategic investments, growth initiatives, and operational decision-making.
• Capital Planning Steward: Drive capital planning activities across the division, helping leadership prioritize investments that support strategic and operational goals.
• Financial Systems Champion: Oversee implementation and utilization of reporting systems and ERP platforms to strengthen financial visibility, efficiency, and access to actionable information.
• Performance Improvement Advocate: Promote process improvement initiatives that enhance finance operations, reporting accuracy, decision support capabilities, and organizational effectiveness.
• Executive Advisor: Serve as a trusted resource to regional, divisional, and system leaders by providing financial insight, performance analysis, and strategic recommendations.
• Team Development Leader: Recruit, develop, mentor, and lead high-performing finance professionals while fostering a culture of accountability, collaboration, innovation, and continuous improvement.
• Cross-Functional Collaborator: Partner with system shared services, operational leaders, and finance teams across the organization to ensure alignment, consistency, and effective execution of financial priorities.

What You'll Bring:

Educational Background:

• Bachelor's Degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field.
• Master's Degree in Business Administration or related field preferred.

Experience:

• 10+ years of finance-related experience.
• 10+ years of leadership experience.

Financial Planning & Analytics Expertise:

• Deep knowledge of budgeting, forecasting, long-range planning, costing, benchmarking, pro forma development, and financial reporting.
• Strong analytical skills with the ability to interpret financial data and develop meaningful recommendations.
• Experience defining, developing, and analyzing performance measures and financial metrics.

Business & Operational Acumen:

• Strong understanding of financial principles, practices, and their application in complex organizations.
• Experience supporting operational and strategic decision-making through financial analysis and planning.
• Ability to evaluate business opportunities and provide thoughtful financial guidance.

Healthcare Finance Knowledge:

• Broad understanding of healthcare trends, challenges, and changes affecting healthcare delivery and financial performance.
• Ability to align financial strategies with clinical, operational, and organizational objectives.

Strategic Leadership Capabilities:

• Demonstrated ability to exercise sound judgment and make decisions based on accurate and timely analysis.
• Experience leading multiple initiatives and balancing competing priorities in fast-paced environments.
• Strong problem-solving and decision-making abilities supported by data and financial insights.

Communication & Relationship Building:

• Exceptional verbal and written communication skills.
• Ability to develop and deliver effective presentations to diverse audiences, including executive leadership.
• Proven ability to build strong relationships with customers, operational leaders, physicians, and key stakeholders.

Project & Process Management Expertise:

• Demonstrated success leading projects, coordinating teams, managing timelines, and overseeing implementation efforts.
• Experience driving process improvement initiatives and strengthening operational effectiveness.
• Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities and deadlines simultaneously.

Technical & Systems Proficiency:

• Working knowledge of financial reporting systems, ERP platforms, spreadsheets, databases, and Microsoft Office applications.
• Experience leveraging technology and reporting tools to improve decision-making and financial transparency.

The full pay range is listed in accordance with applicable law. Final compensation will be determined based on qualifications, experience, organizational compensation alignment, and the approved hiring department budget for the position. This position may also be eligible for incentive compensation and benefits.

Posted are the minimum and the maximum wage rates on the wage range for this position. The successful candidate's placement on the wage range for this position will be determined based upon relevant job experience and other applicable factors. These amounts are the base pay range; additional compensation may be available for this role, such as shift differentials, standby/on-call, overtime, premiums, extra shift incentives, or bonus opportunities.
