Chief Financial Officer (CFO)

Multi-Company Subsidiary of Publicly Traded Broadband Provider
Fairview & Lindon, Utah

Position Summary

We are seeking a dynamic and experienced Chief Financial Officer (CFO) to lead the financial strategy and operations of our growing multi-company subsidiary of a publicly traded telecommunications holding company. The CFO will serve as a key member of the executive leadership team, overseeing all aspects of financial management, strategic planning,

budgeting, and reporting.

This role requires a hands-on leader who can partner effectively across the organization, drive process improvements, and ensure strong financial performance in a fast-evolving rural telecom environment. While prior telecom industry experience and knowledge of Part 32 accounting are helpful, they are not required - we value strong financial leadership and business acumen above all.

The CFO will be based primarily in our Fairview, UT corporate office, with regular presence in our Lindon, UT office.

Key Responsibilities

Strategic Financial Leadership
  • Serve as a key advisor to the CEO and executive team on financial strategy, business planning, and growth initiatives.
  • Lead the development of annual budgets, forecasts, and multi-year financial plans.
  • Drive initiatives to improve financial performance, efficiency, and profitability.

Financial Management & Reporting
  • Oversee the preparation of accurate and timely monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements.
  • Ensure compliance with GAAP and appropriate regulatory requirements.
  • Manage cash flow, capital planning, and investment strategies.
  • Lead internal financial reporting to corporate parent and board of directors.
  • Design and deliver robust management reporting processes to provide actionable insights on operational and financial performance.
  • Develop and maintain key performance indicators (KPIs), dashboards, and variance analyses to support timely and informed decision-making.
  • Work closely with department heads to align financial reports with business objectives and identify areas for improvement.
  • Oversee the financial governance of government-funded projects, ensuring compliance with grant requirements, accurate tracking of expenditures, and timely reporting of capital deployment.
  • Monitor capital expenditure (CAPEX) execution, with a focus on project-level accountability, cost control, and ensuring fixed-cost jobs are completed within budget and scope.

Team Leadership & Development
  • Lead, mentor, and develop the accounting and finance team.
  • Foster a culture of accountability, continuous improvement, and professional growth.
  • Oversee outsourced relationships for tax, audit, and specialized regulatory reporting as needed.

Operations & Compliance
  • Oversee internal controls, policies, and procedures to safeguard company assets, ensure accuracy of financial reporting, and support compliance with regulatory and audit requirements.
  • Support regulatory filings and reporting requirements, including USAC/NECA and other telecom-related reports, as needed (training provided if required).
  • Collaborate cross-functionally to improve processes and support business operations.

Business Partnership & Communication
  • Communicate financial results and key insights clearly to both internal and external stakeholders.
  • Partner with operational leaders to support data-driven decision making.
  • Present financial information to executive leadership and board in a clear, actionable manner.


Qualifications

Required
  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.
  • Minimum of 10 years of progressive financial leadership experience, including 5+ years in a senior management role (Controller, VP Finance, or CFO).
  • Proven experience in financial reporting, budgeting, forecasting, and team leadership.
  • Strong knowledge of GAAP and financial best practices.
  • Demonstrated ability to drive process improvements and lead change.
  • Demonstrated expertise in financial systems and enterprise technology, including ERP platforms, business intelligence tools (e.g., Power BI, Tableau), and advanced Excel modeling; ability to lead digital finance transformation and optimize system integrations for improved reporting and control.

Preferred
  • Prior experience in the telecommunications industry or other regulated industries.
  • Familiarity with Part 32 accounting and related regulatory environments (can be learned on the job).
  • Experience reporting within a publicly traded company structure.
  • CPA license
