Job SummaryThe Chief Experience & Digital Strategy Officer (CXDSO) is a senior leader responsible for overseeing enterprise-wide, cross-functional initiatives that enhance operational efficiency and elevate the student experience. This role integrates project management, digital strategy, and experience design across key service areas, including technology services, facilities management, emergency operations, and campus police/public safety.
The CXDSO serves as a strategic partner across departments to lead institution-wide transformation efforts that improve responsiveness, service delivery, and engagement for students, faculty, staff, and external stakeholders. This position is eligible for telework/hybrid arrangements 3 days in office / 2 days telework in alignment with University working hours: M-TH 7:30-5PM: Friday 7:30-11:30AM
Job Duties & ResponsibilitiesStrategic Leadership- Provide executive leadership for cross-departmental initiatives that improve student experience and institutional operations.
- Develop and implement a digital strategy roadmap that supports strategic goals and modernizes student and administrative systems.
- Serve as a key advisor to senior leadership on transformation priorities related to student engagement, service delivery, and digital infrastructure.
Project & Program Management- Lead and oversee high-impact, cross-functional projects that involve units such as Facilities, Campus Police, Emergency Management, and IT.
- Establish governance, workflows, and performance metrics to ensure timely, cost- effective, and outcome-driven execution.
- Create and manage a project portfolio that aligns with institutional priorities and compliance mandates.
Experience & Engagement Design- Champion a user-centered approach to service design with an emphasis on improving the student journey from campus safety and digital interactions to physical space experience.
- Coordinate campus-wide assessments and feedback channels to inform continuous improvement of services and systems.
- Partner with Enrollment Management, Student Affairs, and Academic Affairs to streamline technology and services that support student success.
Technology & Innovation- Oversee enterprise applications and platforms (e.g., CRM, learning management systems, facilities tech, emergency alert systems) that directly support the student experience.
- Collaborate with IT leadership to align infrastructure planning and digital innovation with institutional transformation efforts.
Collaboration & Compliance - Act as liaison between administrative and academic units to align operational initiatives with strategic objectives.
- Ensure compliance with regulatory requirements in areas such as data privacy, emergency preparedness, public safety, and capital project management.
- Promote transparency and accountability by managing regular reporting, briefings, and communication with campus stakeholders.
All other duties as may be assigned** QualificationsMinimum:- Master's Degree in Higher Education Administration, Public Administration, Information Technology, Business Administration, or a related field.
- At least seven (7) years of progressive leadership experience in enterprise project management, campus operations, or digital transformation preferably in higher education or public sector environments.
- Demonstrated success managing complex, multi-stakeholder projects that deliver measurable improvements in service delivery and/or student outcomes.
- Familiarity with public HBCU environments and a strong commitment to student well-being, access, and cultural inclusion
- Strong leadership, team management, and interpersonal skills.
- Excellent problem-solving, critical thinking, and project management abilities.
- Experience with budget management and vendor relations.
- Commitment to ongoing professional development and staying updated on technology
- advancements.
Preferred:- Experience in higher education or a public-sector setting.
- PMP, Lean Six Sigma, or similar project management certification or practitioner.
- Experience overseeing emergency preparedness or campus safety programs.
- Familiarity with relevant state and federal regulations (e.g., Clery Act, ADA, FERPA).
