About the Position
As a Chief Estimator, you will be responsible for providing oversight of the estimating process for all projects and conducting final reviews of estimates. You will work on large, complex projects and will create bid packages, budgets, and estimates and provide leadership and mentoring to the estimating and construction project teams. The Chief Estimator manages and coordinates the people, processes and procedures, software and other resources used to perform the estimating functions.

Day in the Life
- Establishes process strategy and estimating standards for all projects. Identifies risk issues and their order of magnitude. Reviews project plans, estimates and specifications and coordinates with the team on scope.
- Review general conditions, schedules, scopes of work, hoisting plans, site logistics and other exhibits prepared by the project team to ensure accuracy. Solicits subcontractor and/or supplier information and pricing.
- Accurately prepares and presents estimating packages to senior management and assigns responsibilities to estimating teams on each project. Ensures the flow of project information is maintained and documented. Maintains and communicates data on construction and material cost trends affecting project costs.
- Builds effective long-term relationships with customers, design team, general and specialty contractors, suppliers, and user groups that reflect credibility, support of the Company's core values and meets or exceeds the customer's expectations.
- Provides communications, mentoring, coaching, problem-solving and training to staff and other co-workers at all levels as needed. Advises and coaches employees and provides performance feedback regularly.
- Creates and manages an annual financial budget and maintains some level of responsibility for Companywide financials. Stays informed of new and changing Company procedures, policies, materials, technologies, techniques, and practices. Establishes, trains, and maintains estimating policies and processes.
- Consistently make decisions in an attentive and safe manner to ensure the safety and health of self and others.
- Utilizes LEAN concepts or other continuous improvement methodologies to ensure the most efficient operations, processes, and activities.
- Promotes and models the Company mission, vision and values through exercising sound and ethical business practices, championing all elements of diversity, equity, and inclusion (DEI) and providing high quality services and programs as they relate to clients, subcontractors, co-workers, suppliers, and the public.
Minimum Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree or equivalent work experience in engineering, construction management, building construction, architecture, or a related field.
- Minimum 10-12 years of electrical construction experience in estimating, common code requirements, design/build estimating and preconstruction with concentration in large commercial construction projects.
- Minimum 3-5 years of experience in a senior level estimating role + 2 years of experience directly managing people.
- Experience with computerized estimating systems and software and strong conceptual estimating skills. Skills to read, interpret and understand financial documents, electrical bids, contracts, plans, drawings, blueprints, and specifications. Strong business analysis and mathematical skills.
- Excellent communicator/collaborator, with the ability to clearly and concisely articulate ideas and concepts and the ability to build strong working teams, cultures, and relationships at all levels and with customers, subcontractors, vendors, and other community leaders. Strong business development, documentation, and report preparation skills.
- Demonstrated ability to diagnose complex problems with strategic critical thinking skills and detail orientation, and to drive appropriate solutions with self-initiative and sensitivity.
- Extensive training, experience and skills with project management, and a thorough understanding of the project life cycle.
- In-depth training and experience with LEAN methodologies and/or similar applications. Strong process orientation.

- Occasional travel may be required
Salary Range
- $105,000 - $172,200 annually, based on experience and qualifications.
