Role: Chief Engineer

Location: Waldorf, MD

Your Role With Us:

As Chief Engineer, you are the strategic business leader of the hotel's Engineering Department. Your mission is to maximize the hotel's value and the owner's return on investment by maintaining and protecting the asset's long-term value. The Chief Engineer maintains the

property's physical condition, functionality, useful life, and life safety systems at an

optimized cost.

In this role, you will be responsible for the building, property maintenance and protection, grounds landscaping and maintenance, guest and associate satisfaction, and the financial performance of the department. You will lead the development and implementation of departmental strategies that align with the hotel's brand standards and TLTsolutions' organizational initiatives, ensuring operational excellence and exceptional guest experiences.

Key Responsibilities:
    • Maintenance Leadership: Oversee all aspects of the building, property maintenance, groundskeeping, and engineering functions. Establish and execute preventative maintenance programs for guest rooms, public areas, and all mechanical, electrical, and plumbing (MEP) systems to maximize the value of the property.
    • Team Leadership: Train, supervise, and mentor engineers, technicians, and other staff, ensuring the team delivers consistently high-quality work.
    • Guest Satisfaction & North Star Alignment: Collaborate closely with the Cleanliness and property leadership teams to implement strategies that ensure that "no guest checks into a dirty room with broken stuff"-a guiding principle at TLTsolutions and Canza Management.
    • Life Safety: Ensure that all life safety systems are properly installed, regularly inspected, and in full compliance with local, state, and federal safety regulations to protect the well-being of our guests and associates. Maintain a thorough understanding of fire protection, emergency evacuation procedures, and other essential safety protocols.
    • Emergency Response: Serve as the on-call engineer for any emergent maintenance or engineering issues.
    • Licenses & Permits: Manage the renewal and compliance of all necessary licenses, permits, and certifications related to building operations, equipment, and life safety systems. Ensure that the hotel complies with all relevant regulations, preventing any lapses in operational legality.
    • Emergency Response: Serve as the on-call engineer for any emergent maintenance or engineering issues.
    • Vendor & Contract Management: Identify, evaluate, and manage external vendors and contractors for any work that cannot be completed in-house. Review maintenance contracts for cost-effectiveness and alignment with company goals.
    • Compliance: Ensure all engineering practices comply with the latest insurance, local, state, and federal regulations.
    • Operational & Financial Management: Work closely with the General Manager and ownership to manage budgets, control costs, and drive financial success, while maintaining the property's optimal physical condition. Manage maintenance requests through technology platforms to ensure efficient operations.
    • Continuous Improvement: Conduct routine inspections of the property to identify hazards, equipment issues, and areas for improvement. Implement corrective actions immediately to ensure the property runs efficiently.


What We're Looking For:
