  • Coordinate and oversee maintenance projects, including contractor management and timeline creation.
  • Maintain knowledge of fire safety systems, refrigeration units, and pool operations.
  • Ensure the hotel grounds are well-maintained according to company standards.
  • Monitor the maintenance budget and manage tools and supply inventories.

Job Summary

The Chief Engineer is responsible for maintaining the overall physical condition of the hotel and requires a high level of specialized expertise in all areas of responsibility. The Chief Engineer ensures labor and quality standards are upheld and assists with establishing a positive work environment, delivering exceptional guest service and administering policies and procedures established by the company and the hotel brand.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities
  • Performs and assigns established preventative maintenance programs for equipment, guestrooms, and all other areas of the hotel.
  • Performs repairs of mechanical, electrical, HVAC, plumbing and building-related components.
  • Oversees maintenance department with efforts relating to training, scheduling, and coaching.
  • Coordinates and manages all maintenance projects and outside contractors including gathering proposals, making recommendations, creating timelines, and resolving issues.
  • Maintains extensive knowledge of fire safety equipment, refrigeration, pool and elevator operation.
  • Maintains pool areas according to company and brand standards in addition to applicable state and local codes.
  • Maintains external property appearance including lawn, landscaping and parking lot.
  • Monitors and oversees department budget, equipment, tools and supply inventories.
  • Ensures compliance with all required health, safety and security standards and procedures.
  • Maintains extensive knowledge of door locks systems including performing repairs, replacement and preventative maintenance.
  • Operates common power and hand tools safely.
  • Processes purchase orders and invoices for payment.
  • Collaborates with property leadership team and regularly communicates pertinent information related to the facility and maintenance department.
  • Assists team members and other departments as needed to contribute to operational efficiency.
  • Maintains up to date knowledge of company and property initiatives through regular usage of company communication tools and systems.
  • Performs additional responsibilities as assigned by leadership.
