JLL is seeking an experienced and hands-on Chief Engineer to serve as the technical leader for all building systems at our Nashville facility. In this pivotal role, you'll oversee day-to-day operations and maintenance while developing comprehensive strategies that ensure reliability, safety, and optimal performance across all mechanical systems. You'll lead a dedicated engineering team, manage critical projects, and serve as a trusted technical advisor to facility leadership and clients. This position offers the opportunity to make a direct impact on building performance while developing your team and advancing your own career with a global industry leader. If you're a proactive problem-solver who combines strong technical expertise with leadership abilities, this is your chance to take the next step in facilities management.

What your day-to-day will look like:
  • Provide technical leadership in HVAC maintenance and troubleshooting while maintaining multi-skilled proficiency across commercial HVAC-R, air distribution systems, plumbing, and electrical systems to address diverse facility needs.
  • Lead and develop the maintenance team through hands-on training, mentoring, coaching, and creating personalized professional development plans that help each team member reach their full potential.
  • Plan and schedule all maintenance activities using the CMMS system to maximize "wrench time" efficiency, minimize equipment downtime, and consistently meet assigned key performance indicators.
  • Partner with the facility manager to administer the JLL Client Assurance Program (JCAP), ensuring the entire team understands and follows all Standard Operating Procedures to deliver exceptional service quality.
  • Maintain comprehensive site safety protocols including PPE compliance, conduct regular safety training, and keep meticulous records including engineering logs, maintenance documentation, and safety data sheets.
  • Manage major building projects from planning through execution, coordinating with contractors and stakeholders while maintaining quality standards and budgetary controls.
  • Serve as the primary on-call emergency contact 24/7, with the ability to respond on-site within approximately 45 minutes to address urgent building system issues and ensure minimal disruption to operations.

Required Qualifications:
  • Associate degree in an engineering discipline or equivalent work experience demonstrating comparable technical knowledge and capabilities.
  • Minimum 5 years of commercial facility-related work experience including demonstrated success in customer service delivery, team leadership responsibilities, and supervisory roles.
  • Universal Technician Certification for CFCs (EPA 608 certification) to handle refrigerant systems in compliance with federal regulations.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office suite (Teams, Outlook, Word, Excel) and comfortable using computers, smartphones, and technology platforms for daily work management and communication.
  • Strong people management and team leadership skills with proven ability to motivate staff, resolve conflicts, and deliver outstanding customer service to internal and external stakeholders.
  • Physical capability to lift up to 50 pounds frequently, up to 100 pounds occasionally, and safely climb ladders up to 30 feet while performing maintenance duties.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills to effectively interact with management, team members, contractors, and clients at all organizational levels.

Preferred Qualifications:
  • Experience working in critical facilities, laboratory environments, or high-rise buildings where system reliability and specialized knowledge are paramount.
  • Demonstrated proficiency with CMMS platforms for work order management, preventive maintenance scheduling, and asset tracking, with Corrigo system experience being particularly valued.
  • Working knowledge of financial principles and budgeting processes to collaborate effectively with the Facility Manager on cost control, capital planning, and operational expenses.
  • Track record of implementing process improvements or operational efficiencies that reduced costs, improved uptime, or enhanced service delivery.
  • Additional technical certifications or licenses relevant to building systems, such as HVAC, electrical, plumbing, or fire safety credentials.
