First Hawaiian Bank is currently seeking a Chief Engineer to join the team.

Compensation:

The pay range for the role is $125,000 - $140,000/yr; commensurate with experience

The successful candidate will be hired for the level of the position that aligns with their experience.

Work Schedule:

Monday - Friday 8:00AM - 5:00PM (hours may vary)

Responsibilities

In this role, the Chief Engineer is directly responsible for the operation and maintenance of building infrastructure and operating systems in a cost-effective manner at First Hawaiian Center (FHC - company Headquarters) and Kamehameha Industrial Center (KIC - the Bank's data processing and operations center). The building operating systems include HVAC, Plumbing, Uninterrupted Power Supply (UPS), Building Automation System (BAS), emergency/standby generators, automatic transfer switch (ATS) and fuel system, fire alarm and sprinkler systems and other electrical and electronic systems. The Chief Engineer's other primary responsibilities include repair and maintenance of the building's infrastructure required to maintain a productive and safe workplace for employees, vendors and tenants of the building. The role is also responsible for overall supervision of the Facilities Office, Building Technicians and Parking Operations.

Qualifications

The ideal candidate will have:
  • Bachelor's degree in mechanical engineering, electrical engineering, facilities management, related technical field, or equivalent combination of education and experience required
  • Experience developing operating and capital budgets, including lifecycle planning and forecasting preferred
  • Ten (10)+ years of hands-on, progressive experience in facilities engineering building operations, or plant management within a commercial, corporate, or financial services environment required*
  • Five (5)+ years of leadership experience, including direct supervision of technical staff and/or multi-disciplinary facilities teams required*
    *Required experience may be obtained concurrently
  • 15+ years of hands-on experience in the electrical and/or mechanical field, in data center operations or critical uptime facilities preferred
  • 10+ years of experience supervising technical staff preferred
  • Strong working knowledge of building codes, environmental regulations, OHSA standards, ADA requirements and life safety systems
  • Expertise in preventive and predictive maintenance programs, CMMS platforms, and facilities performance monitoring
  • Demonstrated ability to lead, develop, and retain high-performing technical teams
  • Strong project management, organizational, and cross-funcitonal collaboration skills, with the ability to manage competing deadlines and produce quality results
  • Ability to interpret and review engineering drawings, specifications, and technical documents
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with the ability to evaluate complex systems and recommend improvements
  • Effective written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to engage senior leadership, vendors and regulatory bodies
  • Proficient in Microsoft 365 suite of applications
  • Demonstrated ability to exercise sound judgement, discretion, and confidentiality in handling sensitive information
