Full Job Description
Temple University's Ethics and Compliance Department is searching for a Chief Compliance Officer.

Position Summary:
The University is seeking an experienced Chief Compliance Officer (CCO) to lead and oversee its university-wide compliance, enterprise risk management, civil rights compliance, and data verification functions. Reporting to the Board of Trustees and working closely with the President and senior leadership, the CCO will serve as the University's primary advisor and strategic leader on compliance and risk matters.
The CCO will develop, implement, and continuously enhance the University's comprehensive compliance and risk management programs; conduct enterprise-wide risk assessments; establish annual compliance priorities and work plans; and monitor regulatory and policy requirements. The role will collaborate closely with University Counsel, Internal Audit, Risk Management, Treasury, and compliance leaders across the institution to identify risks, address potential violations, coordinate investigations, and ensure corrective actions are implemented.

Key responsibilities include overseeing civil rights compliance, including ADA and Titles VI, VII, and IX matters; reviewing and verifying selected external data submissions; coordinating internal compliance reviews and monitoring; developing compliance training and educational resources; communicating compliance results to senior leadership and Board committees; and maintaining current knowledge of evolving laws, regulations, and emerging risks.

The successful candidate will build strong, collaborative relationships across the University and foster a proactive culture of ethical conduct, accountability, regulatory compliance, and continuous risk management. Performs other related duties as assigned.

Required Education and Experience:
Bachelor's degree and a minimum of fifteen years' related experience, including experience in a leadership role addressing legal or regulatory requirements, preferably in an academic or healthcare environment.

Working knowledge of laws and regulations in one or more of the following areas is desirable: HEOA, athletics; FERPA; Clery Act; ADA, Title VI, Title VII, Title IX, sponsored research; GLBA, and HIPAA/privacy of health information.

Preferred Education and Experience:
Advanced degree is preferred.
