About the Role

CBRE is seeking an experienced Chief Building Engineer to lead facility operations at a unique 250-acre mixed-use industrial and office campus in Pittsfield, MA. This is an excellent opportunity for professionals with backgrounds in manufacturing, plant operations, industrial maintenance, facilities management, or engineering leadership who are looking to make a significant impact on a large-scale operation.

As the site engineering leader, you will oversee building systems, maintenance operations, infrastructure improvements, and capital projects while providing leadership to engineering staff and contractors. You will play a critical role in ensuring operational reliability, safety, and long-term asset performance across the campus.

What You'll Do
  • Lead day-to-day engineering, maintenance, and facility operations for a 250-acre industrial and office campus.
  • Supervise engineering staff and contractors, assign work, and provide technical guidance and training.
  • Develop scopes of work and manage facility, infrastructure, and capital improvement projects from planning through execution.
  • Partner with onsite stakeholders to support operational goals and maintain a safe, reliable, and efficient facility environment.
  • Manage preventive maintenance programs to maximize equipment reliability and extend asset life.
  • Oversee the operation and performance of critical systems, including HVAC, plumbing, fire/life safety, and building infrastructure.
  • Maintain and utilize site records, drawings, and historical documentation to support project planning and operational decision-making.
  • Ensure compliance with all applicable codes, regulations, safety standards, and company policies.
  • Respond to emergency situations and lead troubleshooting efforts for complex facility and infrastructure issues.
  • Drive continuous improvement initiatives that enhance operational performance, reliability, and customer satisfaction.
  • Lead by example, mentor team members, and influence positive outcomes across multiple disciplines and stakeholders.
What You'll Need
  • High School Diploma, GED, or Trade School Diploma with 5-8 years of related experience; equivalent combinations of education and experience will be considered.
  • Previous supervisory, maintenance leadership, plant operations, or facilities management experience preferred.
  • Experience in manufacturing, industrial, facilities, plant engineering, building operations, or related environments.
  • Strong project management experience, including coordinating contractors, managing priorities, and driving project completion.
  • Working knowledge of mechanical, electrical, HVAC, plumbing, and life safety systems.
  • Ability to solve complex operational problems using both standard practices and innovative solutions.
  • Advanced organizational, communication, and leadership skills with the ability to influence and collaborate across teams.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications, including Excel, Word, and Outlook.
  • Ability to perform the physical requirements of the role, including standing, walking, climbing stairs/ladders, and lifting up to 50 pounds.

CBRE carefully considers multiple factors to determine compensation, including

a candidate's education, training, and experience. The minimum salary for the position

is or $52.00 per hour and the maximum salary for the position is

$60.10 per hour. The compensation that is offered to a successful candidate

will depend on the candidate's skills, qualifications, and experience.
