Location

This is a remote role open to candidates across Canada. For those based in Ottawa, the role will follow a hybrid model with an expectation of approximately 3 days per week at our HQ.

About the role

The Chief Accounting Officer (CAO) is a senior finance leader responsible for building a modern, scalable, and high-performing finance operating model that supports Kinaxis as a global public company.

Working in close partnership with the CFO, the CAO ensures the integrity, discipline, and operational effectiveness of the company27s financial management framework across accounting, financial reporting, internal controls (including NI 52-109 and Sarbanes-Oxley), audit oversight, compliance, revenue accounting, deal desk and finance systems.

The role serves as a trusted advisor to the CFO and Audit Committee on financial governance, controllership, regulatory readiness, and enterprise risk management related to financial operations and reporting.

What you will do

  • Lead the day-to-day operating rhythm of the finance function, with accountability for efficient and accurate close processes, disciplined financial administration, and effective oversight of core accounting operations and global compliance.
  • Take a modern approach and focus on automation, optimization, and AI where possible, moving from data to insights.
  • Ensure timely, accurate, and decision-useful financial reporting including external reporting obligations (e.g., OSC and SEC filings and public disclosures), in compliance with IFRS/US GAAP, internal policies, and public company requirements.
  • Oversee audit readiness, external audit coordination, control certification support (Canada 6 52-109 requirements, U.S. Sarbanes-Oxley readiness), and the operational processes required to maintain a strong compliance posture across jurisdictions.
  • Partner with risk management and internal audit
  • Partner closely with Sales, Legal, and Revenue Operations to ensure appropriate accounting treatment of contracts and enable efficient deal execution
  • Provide structured support and governance to deal desk for complex and non-standard customer transactions.
  • Ensure alignment between commercial objectives and financial integrity by establishing clear approval frameworks, pricing discipline, and contract structuring guidelines.
  • Support the CFO in Audit Committee matters and serve as a senior operational counterpart on financial governance, controls, and compliance topics.
  • Build and lead a high-performing finance organization with clear accountability, strong execution, and a culture grounded in integrity, rigor, and modern, continuous improvement.
  • Develop leaders across the CAO portfolio, strengthen succession depth, and create an environment that supports collaboration, operational excellence, and modern, enterprise thinking

What we are looking for

  • 15 years progressive financial leadership in global enterprise SaaS
  • TSX experience required, NASDAQ,NYSE experience highly desirable.
  • Strong leadership and communication skills
  • Ability to work at pace, and successful track record of implementing modern and scalable operations
  • Deep knowledge of IFRS (US GAAP highly desirable), SOX, and internal control frameworks, including direct experience owning SOX/ICFR programs, with strong command of finance systems, ERP environments including NetSuite, and scalable reporting infrastructure.
  • Strong understanding of revenue recognition (IFRS 15/ASC 606) and operational finance best practices in a modern SaaS business
