Responsibilities

**This position is for upcoming work and is contingent upon task award/funding.

** This will be an onsite position in Albuquerque, NM.

The Journeyman Chemist will provide technical expertise supporting research, development, analysis, and modeling efforts focused on advanced materials and conventional weapons technologies. This position supports engineering modeling and simulation (M&S) activities associated with novel compound development, advanced energetic and non-energetic materials, material performance evaluation, and delivery mechanism analysis. The successful candidate will collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to assess material properties, support technical studies, and contribute to the development and evaluation of emerging technologies in accordance with the program Statement of Work.

Key Responsibilities
  • Provide chemistry subject matter expertise supporting engineering modeling and simulation (M&S) for novel material and compound development.
  • Conduct technical analyses of advanced energetic and non-energetic materials to assess performance characteristics and material behavior.
  • Support research and evaluation of novel compounds and advanced material systems.
  • Analyze material compatibility, stability, degradation mechanisms, and chemical interactions under varying operational and environmental conditions.
  • Support technical assessments of delivery mechanisms, including aerosol and liquid-based systems, as applicable to program objectives.
  • Provide technical support for the analysis and evaluation of advanced conventional weapons technologies.
  • Interpret laboratory, modeling, and experimental data to support engineering and scientific decision-making.
  • Prepare technical reports, presentations, and documentation for government stakeholders.
  • Collaborate with engineers, materials scientists, physicists, and other technical personnel to support research, development, testing, and evaluation activities.
  • Support technical reviews, design reviews, and program meetings as required.

Required Qualifications

Bachelor's degree in Chemistry, Materials Science, Chemical Engineering, or a related scientific discipline.
  • 5 years of relevant professional experience supporting chemistry, materials science, or related research and development efforts.
  • Experience supporting engineering modeling and simulation (M&S) activities.
  • Knowledge of advanced material systems, including energetic and non-energetic materials.
  • Experience analyzing chemical and physical properties of materials and interpreting experimental or computational results.
  • Strong analytical, problem-solving, and technical writing skills.
  • Ability to work effectively within multidisciplinary technical teams.
  • US Citizen with an Active Top Secret / SCI security clearance (required at time of application)

Desired Qualifications

  • Master's degree or higher in Chemistry, Materials Science, Chemical Engineering, or a related discipline.
  • Experience supporting DoW or IC research and development programs.
  • Experience with computational chemistry, molecular modeling, or other engineering modeling and simulation tools.
  • Knowledge of advanced materials characterization techniques and material performance analysis.
  • Experience supporting the development and evaluation of advanced conventional weapons technologies.
  • Familiarity with materials degradation, corrosion science, polymers, composites, ceramics, or advanced alloys.
  • Experience preparing technical reports, briefings, and documentation for government sponsors and senior leadership.

Compensation at Noblis is determined by various factors, including but not limited to, the combination of education, certifications, knowledge, skills, competencies, and experience, internal and external equity, location, clearance level, as well as contract-specific affordability, organizational requirements and applicable employment laws. The projected compensation range for this position is based on full time status. For part time or on-call staff, compensation is proportionately adjusted based on hours worked. While monetary compensation is important, it's just one component of Noblis' total compensation package.

USD $98,820.00 - USD $154,375.00 /Yr.
