General Profile

The purpose of the Plant Chemical Engineer is to ensure the safe, reliable, and efficient operation of chemical and wastewater treatment processes within a continuous manufacturing environment. This role drives process standardization, optimization, quality control, and continuous improvement while maintaining compliance with safety, environmental, and operational standards. The Plant Chemical Engineer is accountable for maximizing equipment performance, supporting production objectives, ensuring product quality, and fostering a culture of safety and operational excellence across the plant.

Skills:
  • Chemical process management and control in continuous operations.
  • Wastewater treatment (WWT) systems operation and optimization.
  • Water treatment, emulsion system, and washer process expertise.
  • Equipment maintenance, calibration, and troubleshooting.
  • Lean and continuous improvement methodology implementation.
  • Quality control and adherence to product specifications.
  • Inventory and chemical store management (IBC/drum handling, stock monitoring).
  • Housekeeping and safety compliance across multiple plant areas.
  • Coordination with cross-functional teams for process optimization and maintenance support.


Accountabilities:
  • Ensure safe chemical handling and operation of all plant systems.
  • Maintain long-term technical performance of chemical, washer, and wastewater systems.
  • Drive process standardization, optimization, and continuous improvement initiatives.
  • Oversee quality control checks and maintain product quality standards.
  • Own and manage chemical stores, ensuring correct storage and stock levels.
  • Support washer maintenance days, including riser and tank cleaning.
  • Calibrate and clean WWT probes to ensure accurate process monitoring.
  • Identify mechanical defects and notify appropriate leadership of unrepairable issues.
  • Foster a safe, efficient, and clean work environment across all areas.
  • Collaborate closely with Production and Engineering teams to maximize equipment and process performance.


Qualifications & Experience:
  • Broad training in a related field usually acquired through college or work-related experience
  • Job related experience for 3 year(s) minimum in an industrial environment with a focus on chemical processes and equipment.
  • Chemical Engineer degree preferred


Compensation & Benefits
  • Hiring Salary Range: $ 75,400-105,290 (Salary to be determined by the applicant's education, experience, knowledge, skills, and abilities, as well as internal equity and alignment with market data.)
  • This role will be eligible to participate in the annual incentive compensation plan.
