Charitable Giving Specialist DAF/PFA

The Charitable Giving Specialist supports the Charitable Giving Solutions Team in the administration of the Donor Advised Fund and Private Foundation Administration products. In this role, the Charitable Giving Specialist is responsible for supporting the day-to-day activities of both products and other duties as assigned. The Charitable Giving Specialist will be able to respond to inquiries from internal relationship teams and external clients. The successful candidate will also develop strong rapport with Northern Trust (NT) partners, prospects, and centers of influence.

Knowledge and Skills

  • Practical knowledge of Donor Advised Funds and private foundations is highly desired, as is experience with both individual and institutional clients.
  • Analytical, problem solving, and organizational skills required to identify, manage and escalate risks and issues.
  • Oversee and execute daily administrative activities within prescribed deadlines (e.g., wire transfers, grant recommendations, securities gifting, check distributions, etc.).
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills to establish and maintain strong relationships with internal stakeholders, clients, and external partners.
  • Proficient in data analysis, report generation, and performance measurement to inform decision-making for Northern Trust Charitable Giving Program.
  • Strong organizational skills and meticulous attention to detail to manage multiple tasks, deadlines, and administrative responsibilities.
  • Proficient in using relevant software applications, including Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint), internal Northern Trust systems a plus.

Major Duties

  • Serve as the key point person for all the administration surrounding the donor advised fund and private foundation administration products.
  • Manage team dynamics and product workflow such that time is split evenly between both donor advised fund and private foundation administration products.
  • Support account opening, onboarding, grant making, and maintenance of donor advised funds and private foundation clients.
  • Assist with addressing requests from internal and external sources in shared email inbox and phone lines, as it relates to the donor advised fund and foundation administration.
  • Participate in creation and maintenance of program collateral.
  • Identify service efficiency enhancements, process improvements, and service delivery

Experience

  • Minimum of 3-5 years of experience in donor advised funds, private foundations, or related fields, preferably within the financial services industry and/or with client service background. Demonstrated experience in relationship management and compliance highly desired.
  • Background and understanding of donor advised funds highly desired.
  • Demonstrated success in small team environment to collaborate across teams to support and develop business.
  • Ability to understand complex issues and navigate/escalate effectively.
  • Demonstrated commitment to maintaining confidentiality in handling sensitive information.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to convey complex information clearly.

Salary Range:

$95,600 - 162,400 USD

Salary range is a good faith estimate of base pay. Northern Trust provides a comprehensive benefits package including retirement benefits (401k and pension), health and welfare benefits (medical, dental, vision, spending accounts and disability), paid time off, parental and caregiver leave, life & accident insurance, and other voluntary and well-being benefits. Northern Trust also provides a discretionary bonus program that may include an equity component.
