Full Job Description
We are looking for a Charge Operating Room Nurse to join our Executive Woods Ambulatory Surgery Center!

Monday-Friday, no weekends, no on-call or required holidays.

Essential Duties & Responsibilities
  • Provide direct nursing care to patients throughout the perioperative process in accordance with established policies, procedures, and standards of care.
  • Serve as a resource for perioperative procedures and processes, guiding staff on protocols, resolving workflow issues, and upholding standards throughout surgical care.
  • Coordinate daily OR activities, including staff assignments, room coverage, surgical schedules, breaks, and workflow.
  • Assist with managing changes to the surgical schedule, staffing needs, and other operational issues throughout the day.
  • Promote efficient patient flow and timely room turnover while maintaining patient safety and quality standards.
  • Collaborate closely with surgeons, anesthesia providers, nursing staff, surgical technologists, sterile processing, and leadership.
  • Support compliance with infection prevention, medication safety, surgical safety, and regulatory requirements.
  • Assist with orientation, training, and ongoing support of new and existing team members.
  • Reinforce department policies, procedures, and clinical standards and escalate concerns to nursing leadership as appropriate.
  • Participate in quality improvement initiatives and help identify opportunities to improve workflow, patient care, and operational efficiency.
  • Assist with emergency situations and provide clinical guidance to staff as needed.
  • Maintain accurate and timely patient documentation.
  • Communicate staffing, clinical, operational, or employee concerns to the appropriate leader.
  • Promote a collaborative, respectful, and team-oriented environment.
  • Support staff through communication, coordination, and informal guidance.
  • Contribute to a culture of safety, accountability, and continuous improvement.
  • Perform other duties and responsibilities as assigned.

Qualifications
  • Minimum 3-5 years of perioperative (OR) nursing experience
  • Current NYS Registered Nurse (RN) license required
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) required
  • Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) preferred
  • CNOR certification preferred
  • Prior experience in charge nurse, flow coordination, or high-volume surgical setting preferred
  • Ability to effectively communicate with providers, patients and peers;
  • Comfortable working in a fast-paced, high-volume environment
  • Specialized knowledge, skill and abilities in perioperative nursing
