We are looking for a Charge Operating Room Nurse to join our Executive Woods Ambulatory Surgery Center!
Monday-Friday, no weekends, no on-call or required holidays.
Essential Duties & Responsibilities- Provide direct nursing care to patients throughout the perioperative process in accordance with established policies, procedures, and standards of care.
- Serve as a resource for perioperative procedures and processes, guiding staff on protocols, resolving workflow issues, and upholding standards throughout surgical care.
- Coordinate daily OR activities, including staff assignments, room coverage, surgical schedules, breaks, and workflow.
- Assist with managing changes to the surgical schedule, staffing needs, and other operational issues throughout the day.
- Promote efficient patient flow and timely room turnover while maintaining patient safety and quality standards.
- Collaborate closely with surgeons, anesthesia providers, nursing staff, surgical technologists, sterile processing, and leadership.
- Support compliance with infection prevention, medication safety, surgical safety, and regulatory requirements.
- Assist with orientation, training, and ongoing support of new and existing team members.
- Reinforce department policies, procedures, and clinical standards and escalate concerns to nursing leadership as appropriate.
- Participate in quality improvement initiatives and help identify opportunities to improve workflow, patient care, and operational efficiency.
- Assist with emergency situations and provide clinical guidance to staff as needed.
- Maintain accurate and timely patient documentation.
- Communicate staffing, clinical, operational, or employee concerns to the appropriate leader.
- Promote a collaborative, respectful, and team-oriented environment.
- Support staff through communication, coordination, and informal guidance.
- Contribute to a culture of safety, accountability, and continuous improvement.
- Perform other duties and responsibilities as assigned.
Qualifications- Minimum 3-5 years of perioperative (OR) nursing experience
- Current NYS Registered Nurse (RN) license required
- Basic Life Support (BLS) required
- Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) preferred
- CNOR certification preferred
- Prior experience in charge nurse, flow coordination, or high-volume surgical setting preferred
- Ability to effectively communicate with providers, patients and peers;
- Comfortable working in a fast-paced, high-volume environment
- Specialized knowledge, skill and abilities in perioperative nursing
