Our Med/Surg Observation Unit is a fast paced 24 bed telemetry/medical-surgical unit. Common problems seen in our unit include chest pain, syncope, congestive heart failure, pneumonia, and diabetes. Our nurse patient ratio ranges from 4-6 patients depending on acuity. Our care team includes a charge nurse and unit assistants with support from respiratory, lab, and case management departments. Job SummaryJob Summary- Assessment/reassessment - Systematically assesses / reassesses the health care needs of individuals; appropriate for specific age groups and patient conditions. Involves patient, family and other healthcare providers as appropriate.
- Nursing Diagnosis and Outcomes - Analyzes assessment to determine nursing diagnosis and expected outcomes, involving patient, family and other healthcare providers as appropriate.
- Implementation and Coordination of Care - Provides nursing care through interventions to achieve goals and needs using professional judgement guided by current evidence-based practice, regulations and policy.
- Evaluation - Evaluates patient outcomes by utilizing the critical thinking process and evidence based knowledge to recognize problems, evaluate facts and reach sound conclusions.
- Professional Practice.
- Serves as department leader alongside and in absence of Nurse Manager.
- Maintain ACLS.
- RN will oversee and promote bedside handoff at shift changes.
QualificationsEducation- Diploma or Associate's degree (ADN) required, Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN), or Master's of Science in Nursing (MSN) preferred.
Experience- 1 year experience as a Registered Nurse preferred
Licensure/Certification- Current Oklahoma Registered Nurse license.
- Basic Life Support (BLS) and Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) training or retraining is required during orientation prior to providing patient care.
- Current Basic Life Support (BLS) and Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) is required to be maintained thru re-training for duration of employment.
- RNs with less than one year experience are required to complete Norman Regional's Nurse Residency Program.
