Full Job Description
Description

Loma Linda University School of Medicine is seeking a dynamic, academic preventive medicine physician for the role of Chair of the Department of Preventive Medicine.

This is an exciting opportunity to provide leadership and oversight to a group of dedicated providers, serving a large population in Southern California. The Department of Preventive Medicine is involved in preventive medicine clinical care, education, and research for the School of Medicine. The department provides a comprehensive, four-year preventive medicine curriculum to all medical students. Graduate medical education training currently housed under the department includes one of the largest Public Health and General Preventive Medicine residency programs established in 1979, Occupational Medicine residency, Addiction Medicine fellowship, and a non-ACGME accredited Lifestyle Medicine fellowship.

The department works with and supports the School of Public Health, as well as other Loma Linda University programs in health promotion and epidemiology research projects. Preventive medicine faculty members provide clinical services at the Center for Health Promotion, the Occupational Medicine Center, the SAC Health clinics as well as the hospitals. A diverse faculty focuses primary activities through the School of Medicine, the School of Public Health, the Jerry L. Pettis Memorial Veterans Medical Center, the San Bernardino County and Riverside County health departments, and other regional and community entities.

Our department currently has 25+ attending physicians and 20 adjunct faculty.

The Chair oversees all aspects of service line quality, operations, and growth as well as supporting the established and accredited residency and fellowship programs. The Chair will work directly with the Dean of School of Medicine and the President of Loma Linda University Faculty Medical Group (LLUFMG). LLUFMG is the employment corporation for over 1400 clinicians working at LLU Health and is an equal opportunity employer.

Applications are sought for eligible faculty appointment at the full professor level with appropriate board certification and licensure. The ideal candidate should have a track record of excellence in leadership, in clinical and/or basic science research, patient care, education, and mentorship. Additionally, we seek an individual who can be an excellent source of mentorship for faculty in academic and clinical growth, as well as a resource for resident and fellow training.

The Department of Preventive Medicine provides care to a diverse population of 4 million people in Southern California, located between Los Angeles and Palm Springs in an area known as the Inland Empire. Nestled at the foot of the San Bernardino Mountains, we have convenient access to beach cities, alpine sports, hiking and a variety of other outdoor activities. This region also has excellent private and public-school systems.
