Overview

Los Alamos Technical Associates, Inc. (LATA) is seeking an experienced Certified Health Physicist to provide technical radiological support for the WIPP project in Carlsbad, New Mexico. This role supports the Radiological Controls organization by ensuring radiological work is performed safely, compliantly, and in alignment with ALARA principles. The position requires strong technical expertise, regulatory knowledge, and the ability to contribute to the continuous improvement of the WIPP Radiation Protection Program.

The successful candidate will provide technical support to the WIPP Radiological Controls department in the areas of radiological work controls, waste characterization and shipment, dosimetry, release of radioactive material, instrumentation, count room and program assessment as assigned.

Responsibilities
• Ensure that radiological support for WIPP operations is conducted in accordance with the approved procedures implementing ALARA principles and compliance with 10 CFR 835.
• Responsible for assisting with the implementation and continuing improvement of the WIPP radiological control program.
• Provides technical health physics support to the Radiation Protection Program in assigned areas as a subject matter expert.

Qualifications
• Bachelor's Degree in Health Physics, Engineering, Science, or related field with ten (10) years of related experience as a Radiological Engineer, Radiological Control Engineer, or equivalent is required.
• Current standing as a Certified Health Physicist (CHP).
• Previous WIPP Project experience is a plus.

Pay Range

USD $137,969.10 - USD $248,373.90 /Yr.
