Full Job Description
Holman is looking for a Manager to join their Accounting Department in Vancouver, WA! Job Responsibilities: - Lead an assigned Centralized Accounting operating tower, including process design, service levels, policy execution, capacity planning, month-end readiness, and operational performance. - Lead through a formal supervisory structure by setting expectations, coaching supervisors and leads, reinforcing accountability, and ensuring consistent execution across assigned teams. - Develop and maintain a sustainable leadership and career ladder within the assigned tower, including support for supervisors, leads, senior specialists, and specialist progression. - Ensure accurate and timely accounting transactions in alignment with company policies, internal controls, and applicable accounting standards. - Own the operating rhythm for assigned functions, including service levels, throughput measures, quality indicators, backlog tracking, close readiness, and escalation routines. - Identify, evaluate, and resolve operational, technical, organizational, and control-related issues impacting accounting accuracy, efficiency, timeliness, or service quality. - Strengthen the control environment by ensuring appropriate segregation of duties, independent review, documented procedures, timely escalation, and remediation of known control gaps. - Partner with the Director - Centralized Accounting and peer managers to align priorities, staffing, service delivery, and transformation efforts across Centralized Accounting. - Collaborate with business partners, field leadership, dealership accounting leaders, Finance, Internal Audit, Human Resources, Technology, and other stakeholders to ensure accounting operations support broader business needs. - Lead continuous improvement efforts, including standardization of procedures, improvement of close-related processes, reduction of rework, management of aged items, and identification of automation opportunities. - Partner with process, systems, and project resources to support dashboards, operating metrics, SOP consolidation, checklist standardization, system enhancements, and automation initiatives. - Evaluate workload, staffing, and capacity needs for assigned functions and make recommendations related to permanent staffing, temporary capacity, backfill, and prioritization of backlog work. - Support the implementation of new job profiles, career laddering, role clarity, and performance expectations within Centralized Accounting. - Recruit, develop, retain, and performance-manage talent within the assigned tower, with emphasis on building leadership capability and sustainable bench strength. - Communicate performance, risks, resource needs, control gaps, and operational priorities to senior leadership in a clear and timely manner. - Manage assigned projects, initiatives, and transformation efforts through execution, ensuring alignment with scope, timing, expected outcomes, and organizational priorities. - Foster a culture of accountability, collaboration, accuracy, service, and continuous improvement. - Perform all other duties and special projects as assigned. Qualifications: - Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, Business Administration, or a related field strongly preferred but not required. - 5 to 7+ years of progressive accounting, finance, or dealership accounting operations experience. - 3+ years of leadership experience preferred, including experience leading through supervisors, team leads, or other subordinate leaders. - Additional education, certifications, or other relevant distinctions preferred. - Proficiency with Microsoft Office tools, including Outlook, Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Teams, SharePoint, and related collaboration tools. - Experience with dealership accounting systems, accounting software, workflow tools, reporting tools, and automation or process improvement tools preferred. - Experience managing accounting operations with measurable service levels, close deadlines, reconciliations, transaction processing, control requirements, and cross-functional business partners. - Automotive retail or dealership accounting experience is strongly preferred. - Demonstrated experience improving processes, implementing controls, developing talent, and managing operational change.
