Job Details

As a Cellular Network Engineer, you will lead the design, deployment, and optimization of cellular augmentation networks across Cleveland Clinic facilities to enhance wireless connectivity and support organizational needs. This role focuses on implementing in-building cellular solutions, including multi-carrier and neutral host networks, while supporting the deployment of Private 5G technologies in select locations to ensure reliable, high-performance wireless communication throughout the enterprise.

A caregiver in this role works a hybrid schedule, Monday through Friday from 8:00 a.m. - 5:00 p.m., with at least two days per week on-site in Northeast Ohio.

This position requires approximately 80% travel within Northeast Ohio and 20% travel outside the region.

A caregiver who excels in this role will:
  • Assist with partner selection.
  • Gather site drawings.
  • Assist with gathering data for RFP as required.
  • Review vendor submittals.
  • Meet with selected vendor to develop Scope of Work.
  • Coordinate with ITD Facility Planning and Design on Structured cable design.
  • Ensure site readiness.
  • Coordinate with Vendor on hardware installation and carrier integrations.
  • Define and document resiliency testing.
  • Perform system testing.
  • Develop deployment guides.
  • Work with Project Managers for progress reporting.
  • Certify system for production.
  • Create and or define applicable standards for Cellular networks at CCF.
  • Create As-Built documentation of equipment installs.
  • Update all monitoring tools with device information.
  • Define and document software standards.
  • Develop and document fail over testing plans in areas with HA coverage.
  • Work with Project Managers for progress reporting.
  • Work with third parties to develop required software patching and upgrades.
  • Develop Support protocols for implementation.
  • Maintain detailed records of network configurations, operational procedures, and inventory.
  • Design and implement network security measures to protect data, software, and hardware.
  • Collaborate with vendors and other IT personnel to ensure timely and efficient network scaling.
  • Update job knowledge by participating in educational opportunities, reading professional publications, and participating in professional organizations.
  • Work with Vendors and customers to design systems that provide comprehensive in building cellular coverage.
  • Integrate any Private Wireless Network to enterprise network.
  • Work with other Network Design and Engineering team members on Wired or Wireless network deployments.
  • Other duties as assigned.


Minimum qualifications for the ideal future caregiver include:
  • Bachelor's degree in IT, Networking or similar or related field and five years of experience working with in building cellular networks
  • OR five years of experience working with in building cellular networks and an additional four years of experience
  • Thorough understanding of Cellular principles, frequencies
  • Ability to communicate with Leadership, Vendors and customers
  • Understanding of complex enterprise networks
  • Knowledge of Enterprise routing protocols such as OSPF, BGP and SDWAN
  • Experience leading transactions, screening deals, and developing a business case
  • Understanding of network concepts such as VLAN, Spanning Tree, LACP
  • Understanding of the concepts of Network design


Preferred qualifications for the ideal future caregiver include:
  • Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Telecommunications, Computer Science, or Information Technology
  • 5+ years of hands-on experience in telecommunications, with a focus on wireless communications, 4G/5G network architecture, or Radio Access Networks (RAN), in an enterprise environment
  • Deep understanding of RF propagation, antenna theory, and signal interference
  • Strong grasp of IP networking, VPNs, routing, and switching
  • Knowledge of 3GPP standards, LTE, and 5G (NR) core and radio technologies
  • CompTIA Network+ or Cisco Certified Network Associate (CCNA) certification demonstrating knowledge of IP routing and switching fundamentals
  • Certified Wireless Network Professional (CWNP) credentials or specialized 5G/LTE vendor certifications (from Nokia, Ericsson, or Huawei)
  • Ability to identify and resolve complex network bottlenecks and signal drops
  • Strong communication skills to coordinate with mobile operators, field deployment technicians, and project managers
  • Experience using RF planning and propagation software (e.g., Atoll, iBwave) and drive test / network optimization tools
