The Cell and Gene Therapy Business Coordinator Supervisor provide day-to-day operational leadership and supervisory oversight for the Cell and Gene Therapy Business Coordinator team.

The Supervisor leads a team responsible for insurance verification, prior authorization, payer communications, financial clearance, authorization tracking, contract coordination, and billing documentation to ensure timely patient access to care, regulatory compliance, and accurate reimbursement. This role develops and standardizes workflows that minimize financial risk to both patients and the organization while supporting a seamless patient experience across the continuum of care.

Job Description

The Cell and Gene Therapy Business Coordinator Supervisor provide day-to-day operational leadership and supervisory oversight for the Cell and Gene Therapy Business Coordinator team.

The Supervisor leads a team responsible for insurance verification, prior authorization, payer communications, financial clearance, authorization tracking, contract coordination, and billing documentation to ensure timely patient access to care, regulatory compliance, and accurate reimbursement. This role develops and standardizes workflows that minimize financial risk to both patients and the organization while supporting a seamless patient experience across the continuum of care.

Working collaboratively with program director, program manager, physicians, advanced practice providers, nursing, apheresis, pharmacy, social work, revenue cycle, finance, contracting, compliance, and other interdisciplinary stakeholders, this position advances operational excellence, financial stewardship, and program growth within a rapidly evolving cell and gene therapy landscape.

Primary responsibilities include authorizations processes for inpatient and outpatient cellular and gene therapy services; and pricing changes for cellular therapy products; overseeing purchase orders and financial reconciliation; providing guidance on wholesale acquisition cost (WAC) and 340B pricing strategies; evaluating reimbursement considerations for clinical trials and commercial therapies; and serving as the primary financial liaison with pharmaceutical manufacturers, payers, and institutional stakeholders. Through leadership of the Business Coordinator team, this position supports financial sustainability, regulatory compliance, and continued growth of the Cell and Gene Therapy Program.

Minimum Qualifications
  • Associate degree in a work-related field/discipline from an accredited college or university.
  • 3+ years of directly related work experience in healthcare operations, insurance authorization, patient access, managed care, revenue cycle, financial counseling, or a related field.
  • 1+ year of experience as a prior lead, supervisory, or team coordination experience.
  • Knowledge of healthcare insurance, payer requirements, prior authorization, benefits verification, and reimbursement processes.
  • Demonstrated leadership, communication, and interpersonal skills with the ability to effectively supervise staff and collaborate across multidisciplinary teams.
  • Strong analytical, organizational, and problem-solving skills with the ability to prioritize competing demands and resolve complex operational and financial issues.
  • Ability to identify and implement process improvement initiatives that enhance patient access, operational efficiency, and financial performance.


Preferred Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree in a work-related field/discipline from an accredited college or university.
  • 3+ years of prior lead, supervisory, or team coordination experience.
  • Knowledge of financial clearance, reimbursement, and authorization processes specific to oncology, hematopoietic cell transplantation, cellular therapy, or gene therapy.
  • Experience leading high-performing teams in a complex healthcare or academic medical center environment.
  • Knowledge of healthcare regulatory, accreditation, and compliance standards affecting specialty care programs (e.g., FACT, CMS, FDA).
  • Demonstrated experience using data analytics and performance metrics to improve operational outcomes, revenue cycle performance, and patient access.
