What you Will Do:

The Control System Engineering & Electrification (CSEE) organization is seeking a Mechanical Controls Hardware Systems Engineer with strong technical, communication and teamwork skills. The successful candidate will lead the end-to-end requirements lifecycle across complex mechanical systems, partnering closely with suppliers, design teams, Systems Engineering, Software Engineering, Manufacturing, Quality, and program leadership to develop robust component solutions. This position drives technical rigor through requirements management, decomposition, and supplier engagement to ensure components meet system and program objectives.

Key Responsibilities
  • Lead an Integrated Product Team for Mechanical Product Center components.
  • Lead requirements management activities for Fuel, Actuation, Air & Lube system architectures and associated mechanical components.
  • Provide technical leadership for Fuel, Air & Lube system components including:
    • Pumps
    • Fuel Controls & associated hardware
    • Fueldraulic Actuators
    • Air Valves
    • Filters
    • Sensors and instrumentation interfaces.
  • Serve as the primary technical interface between internal engineering teams and suppliers.
  • Facilitate design reviews, requirement reviews, and technical decision forums.
  • Decompose customer, program, and system-level requirements into detailed subsystem and component-level requirements.
  • Perform requirements analysis to evaluate completeness, traceability, and technical risk.
  • Resolve requirement conflicts and support technical trade studies to optimize performance, manufacturability, cost, and reliability.
  • Ensure requirements are measurable, testable, and aligned with product qualification expectations.
  • Develop verification plans, including analysis, inspection, testing, and demonstration methods.
    Review supplier technical proposals, analyses, drawings, and qualification evidence.
  • Mentor engineers in requirements-based engineering practices and mechanical system development.

CDS develops complex, cyber-resilient control systems and software for commercial and military engines including power and thermal management Systems and auxiliary power units. CDS also develops advanced diagnostic & health management systems to monitor our products, forecast events and help facilitate MRO operations. Onsite: Employees who are working in Onsite roles will work primarily onsite. This includes all production and maintenance workers, as they are essential to the development of our engines.

The salary range for this role is 107,500 USD - 204,500 USD. The salary range provided is a good faith estimate representative of all experience levels. RTX considers several factors when extending an offer, including but not limited to, the role, function and associated responsibilities, a candidate's work experience, location, education/training, and key skills.

Payments under these annual programs are not guaranteed and are dependent upon a variety of factors including, but not limited to, individual performance, business unit performance, and/or the company's performance.

This role is a U.S.-based role. If the successful candidate resides in a U.S. territory, the appropriate pay structure and benefits will apply.
