Your Role on the Team

Position Summary:
The Director will support the rapid growth, advancement, and maturation of the Digestive Health Institute (DHI). The incumbent is accountable for establishing and maintaining operational excellence, advancing and implementing service line strategic plans, managing organizational and leadership development, maintaining compliance and quality accreditations, ensuring the effectiveness and efficiency of service line operations, and aligning initiatives in keeping with UCI Health objectives. Works closely with clinical leaders and key business development, marketing, and advancement partners across the enterprise to meet service line goals, promote program growth, and deliver cost-effective services that generate revenue and increase market share. Provides leadership around organization-wide initiatives to improve patient care and clinical effectiveness, reduce cost, optimize patient throughput, and increase patient and employee satisfaction.

What It Takes to be Successful

Required Qualifications:
  • Minimum of 5 years of leadership experience to cover operations, with related accomplishments in performance, development, productivity, and cost management
  • Effectively develops unit/department operational policies and procedures
  • Effectively demonstrates strategic thinking in developing short-term goals for the department, consistent with the UCI Medical Center institutional goals and objectives
  • Consistently provides services which anticipate and/or exceed customer expectations in terms of quantity, quality, cost, and delivery requirements
  • Consistently ensures compliance with all university policy/procedures, applicable laws, regulatory agency requirements, codes of practice and organization work standards (service, quality and safety standards)
  • Communicates effectively with upper management, peers and other disciplines within the hospital, outside agencies and other entities to ensure prompt and proper exchange of information and resolution of issues
  • Bachelors Degree in related field
  • Actively participates in the development and implementation of medical center strategic plans, operational goals and objectives, business initiatives and policies and procedures
  • Ability to manage staff and resources consistent with goals, and in keeping the organizational vision and values. Ability to delegate and empower staff and build strong employee morale
  • Ability to build, attract and develop a strong management team by demonstrating and setting high standards of behavior, performance, quality, credibility and integrity

  • Preferred Qualifications:
  • MBA or Masters in Healthcare Management or related field
  • Clinical experience
