Overview As a
Category Manager, Alcoholic Beverages, you'll have end-to-end ownership of your category's performance, leading strategy, assortment, pricing, promotions, and supplier partnerships to deliver a best-in-class guest experience. You'll leverage consumer insights, market trends, and data-driven decision making to grow sales, increase profitability, and create a differentiated offering across Casey's stores.
What You'll Do: - Develop and execute category strategies that align with guest needs, industry trends, and business objectives.
- Own category financial performance, including P&L management, forecasting, and annual planning.
- Build and maintain strategic partnerships with key suppliers, leading negotiations to secure favorable costs, terms, and support programs.
- Curate product assortments and pricing strategies using consumer insights, competitive analysis, syndicated data, and business performance metrics.
- Lead promotional planning and execution to drive guest traffic, sales growth, and profitability.
- Regularly visit Casey's stores and competitor locations to identify opportunities, validate strategies, and stay connected to the guest experience.
- Optimize cost of goods, supplier funding, and category economics by leveraging Casey's scale and strategic partnerships.
- Collaborate cross-functionally with Operations, Marketing, Supply Chain, Store Development, and other key business partners to bring category strategies to life.
- Translate market trends and consumer insights into actionable recommendations that fuel category growth.
Compensation: Starting pay range: $88,700 - $116,400. Actual pay may vary based on Casey's assessment of the candidate's knowledge, skills, abilities (KSAs), related experience, education, and qualifications. Other factors impacting pay include local prevailing wages and internal equity. This position is eligible for an annual cash bonus based on company performance. Our full salary range for this role does extend beyond the hiring range listed, allowing team members the opportunity to continue to grow within the company.
Requirements - Bachelor's degree in Business, Marketing, Merchandising, or a related field, or equivalent experience.
- 5+ years of experience in category management, merchandising, buying, retail, consumer packaged goods (CPG), or a related field.
- Strong understanding of category management principles, merchandising strategies, pricing, promotions, and consumer behavior.
- Proven ability to manage financial performance, analyze results, identify opportunities, and drive meaningful business outcomes.
- Experience negotiating with suppliers and managing strategic vendor relationships.
- Strategic thinker with strong analytical, planning, and decision-making skills.
- Knowledge of the convenience retail, grocery, beverage, or foodservice industry is preferred.
- Ability to influence and collaborate effectively across a broad range of internal and external stakeholders.
