TD Securities ("TDS") Technology supports a wide range of capital market products and services to corporate, government, and financial institution ("FI") clients through Transaction Banking ("TB"), Corporate and Investment Banking ("CIB"), and Global Markets ("GM"). The firm works with clients around the world, focusing selectively and strategically on key global financial centers: Toronto, Montreal, Calgary, Vancouver, New York, London, Singapore, and Tokyo.

Transaction Banking is a key growth business within TDS that provides the opportunity to make an impact with top tier organizations. The business constantly changes with macroeconomic conditions, unprecedented levels of innovation, interest rate environments, and foreign exchange movements. As a result, all GTB business lines continue to evolve to provide optimum trade finance, liquidity, and payment solutions to clients.

Transaction Banking is comprised of four business lines: Global Trade Finance ("GTF"), Corporate Cash Management ("CCM"), Financial Institutions ("FI"), and Export and Agency Finance ("EAF").

The Global Transaction Banking technology team focuses on delivering top-tier technology solutions to enable and grow the global GTB business.

Job Summary:

As part of Value Creation Plan, TD has embarked on a multi-year digital transformation of Transaction Banking to position the transaction bank as a leading North American multi-currency treasury provider, enabling significant business growth across the TDS franchise. This role presents an opportunity to lead the build-out of the next-generation of GTB's transaction banking capabilities in order to (i) extend a highly successful GTB business into the US; and (ii) to future-proof business with a platform that can evolve at minimal cost as client and industry needs & expectations continue to evolve.

The Cash Management Technology Director is a leadership role that requires extensive experience in building Payment platform (ACH, wire, Swift). The role primarily focuses on providing strategic direction and overseeing the delivery of Cash Management technology solutions within TD Securities Corporate Banking businesses. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in delivering large scale payment systems and strategy, experience in large scale integration projects, and leadership skills.

This specific role will lead the strategy, design, development, and delivery of a next-generation transaction banking reporting platform supporting domestic and international cash management products. The role is accountable for creating a scalable, resilient, and regulatory-compliant solution capable of generating customer statements, account reporting, regulatory reports, and industry-standard messaging formats including BAI2, BTRS, ISO 20022 CAMT statements, MT940, MT942, MT950, and other SWIFT reporting standards.

This leader will establish the product vision, technology roadmap, operating model, and engineering organization responsible for delivering reporting capabilities across commercial banking, treasury management, payments, liquidity, virtual accounts, and emerging real-time payment services. The platform will serve as a strategic component of the bank's Transaction Banking architecture and client experience.

Responsibilities:
  • Provide overall technology leadership and guidance for the delivery team.
  • Develop and execute technology strategies to support the business goals of the organization.
  • Collaborate with business stakeholders to understand their requirements and translate them into technology solutions.
  • Define and maintain the technology roadmap, aligning it with the overall IT strategy.
  • Lead the architecture and design of complex and scalable solutions.
  • Oversee the full software development life cycle, including requirements gathering, design, development, testing, and deployment.
  • Manage a team of developers, architects, and engineers, providing technical guidance and mentoring.
  • Ensure adherence to coding standards, best practices, and security guidelines.
  • Collaborate with other technology teams and stakeholders to ensure seamless integration of systems with other applications.
  • Identify and evaluate emerging technologies and trends and make recommendations for adoption.
  • Drive continuous improvement initiatives, optimizing processes and enhancing efficiency.
  • Monitor project timelines, budgets, and resources, and proactively address any deviations.
  • Collaborate with vendors and external partners to leverage their expertise and deliver innovative solutions.
  • Establish strong relationships with key stakeholders, including business leaders, product owners, and senior executives.
  • Stay up to date with industry developments, regulatory changes, and market trends related to technology.
  • Champion the adoption of agile methodologies and promote a culture of innovation and collaboration within the team.
  • Provide regular reports and updates to senior management on technology initiatives, progress, and challenges.

Required Skills:
  • 15+ years of engineering experience, with at least 5+ years leading the engineering team of 10 or more people in the Transaction Banking domain.
  • Proven experience with building and delivering large scale projects on Azure or GCP.
  • Familiarity with Payment rails such as ACH, Wire, SWIFT and solid understanding of ISO Standards and US regulatory requirements.
  • Hands-on experience with API integration, microservices development, Kafka, Springboot involving multiple systems and platforms.
  • Demonstrated leadership skills, including the ability to motivate and inspire teams.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively with diverse stakeholders.
  • Strong problem-solving and analytical abilities, with a keen attention to detail.
  • Experience in driving technology strategies and roadmaps aligned with business objectives.

Education & Experience:
  • Minimum Bachelors' degree in Computer Science/Engineering required

The Director - Tech Solutions TDS Management builds and maintains strong business relationship with assigned clients / internal partners and provides direction and guidance on optimal technology solutions/services to meet business needs. The position generally manages a varied team of IT professionals and bridges the gap between the business and technology, and leverages resources across functional or specialized technology areas to ensure end to end delivery of agreed upon solutions or services within planned forecasts / cost estimates. Role generally supports a significant Business area, Product Group, Enterprise Platform, Service or Capability within a Segment CIO or Functional area.
