Full Job Description

Works under the supervision of the Senior Administrative Director of Cardiopulmonary Services or designee, Manager or Supervisor.  Assists with preparation, processing, and distribution of patient charts, reports, and billing.  Schedules patient tests and notifies the appropriate people.  Provides clerical support, answers the departmental phones and routes calls.  Utilizes the Hospital computer systems, and Department computer systems to process forms, procedures, policies, schedules, and other word processing/typing and projects as needed.  Performs other duties as assigned within the cardiopulmonary service line.

Accepts and completes in a timely manner assignments in all areas of the Neurodiagnostic, Respiratory PFT scheduling and Sleep Center. Performs all technical and clinical work as outlined in the American Society Electroneurodiagnostic Technologist Standards (ASET).  Records EEG awake and asleep, evoked potentials, AABR, and EEG seizure monitoring. Demonstrates the knowledge and skills necessary to provide care appropriate to age of the patient.

  • Prepares, processes, and distributes patient charts, reports, and billing.

  • Schedules outpatient appointments and keeps appropriate persons informed.

  • Maintains accurate patient records, related material, and appropriate documentation.

  • Updates the computer with patient information.

  • Answers departmental phones, confirms patients for evening sleep studies, reschedules cancellations and calls in from cancellation list, when applicable.  Advises Manager when six patient beds are not filled each evening, and routes calls appropriately, or takes messages as needed.

  • Greets evening patients, gives tour of lobby, control room, restrooms and fire exits, shows to their designated rooms, instructs patients on the use of electric bed and television remotes, pull string and audio/video.

  • Confirms identify of patients and applies patients’ wristbands.

  • Instructs patients to change into their evening clothes in their bedroom and points out the blind Spot.

  • Guides patients through electronic registration, confirms signatures and submits to admitting.

  • Provides clerical support, using the Hospital and Department computer systems to process forms, procedures, policies, schedules, and other word processing/typing and projects as needed.

  • Performs related duties such as special project assignments and assisting others.

  • Assumes active role in the Sleep Medicine Department’s Continuous Quality Improvement Program, and processing of reports.

  • Uses appropriate communication and teamwork skills when working with patients, co-workers and       other hospital staff.

  • Establishes, maintains, and files computerized records and databases for the Cardiopulmonary Service       Line.

  • Utilizes the Hospital and department computer systems (including PACS and Reporting Software, Microsoft Office including but not limited to Word, Excel, Visio, etc.)  

  •  Performs noninvasive Neurodiagnostic procedures such as awake, asleep EEG's, Evoked Potentials, EEG/Video monitoring, and AABR’s

Education: A minimum of a high school diploma or GED required.

Licensure:  Current BLS/Healthcare Provider status as per American Heart Association standards Required.

Experience: Two to three years of recent clerical experience or equivalent combination of education and Experience.

Salary Range: The hourly rate for this position is $34.85 - $43.56. The range displayed on this job posting reflects the target for new hire salaries for this position.
