JOB PURPOSEWe are seeking a hands-on Capability Development Engineer to support the development, implementation, and continuous improvement of electronic component repair capabilities within an FAA/EASA Part 145 Maintenance, Repair, and Overhaul (MRO) environment.
This role is focused on turning new repair requirements into practical, repeatable, and documented test solutions. The Capability Development Engineer will design and build test equipment and interfaces, program and support automated and semi-automated test equipment (ATE), troubleshoot electronic circuits and test systems, and work closely with technicians and operations to bring new repair capabilities online.

JOB SPECIFICATIONSResponsibilities:- Design, build, and modify test equipment, breakout boxes, cables, fixtures, adapters, and other test interfaces.
- Program, configure, integrate, and support automated and semi-automated test equipment (ATE).
- Troubleshoot electronic circuits, test equipment, fixtures, and system-level capability issues using schematics, wiring diagrams, technical documentation, and test data.
- Translate repair and test requirements into practical engineering solutions that can be consistently used by technicians and production personnel.
- Support new repair capabilities from initial concept through development, validation, implementation, and documentation.
- Develop and maintain test procedures, equipment documentation, schematics, wiring diagrams, and other engineering documentation required to support repair operations.
- Work directly with technicians to troubleshoot difficult or recurring test and repair issues.
- Identify opportunities to improve existing test equipment, test processes, repair processes, reliability, and overall capability.
- Support the evaluation, selection, and integration of commercial test equipment and instrumentation.
- Assist with test equipment calibration, maintenance, troubleshooting, and configuration as required.
- Analyze test results and investigate failures to determine whether issues are related to the unit under test, test equipment, fixtures, software, or the test process.
- Collaborate with Engineering, Quality, Operations, and technicians to ensure new and modified capabilities are practical, repeatable, and properly documented.
- Maintain appropriate engineering and technical records in accordance with company procedures and applicable regulatory requirements.
Qualifications:- Bachelor's degree in electrical engineering, Electronics Engineering, or a related engineering discipline.
- Strong fundamental knowledge of electronics and electrical circuits.
- Hands-on experience troubleshooting electronic circuits and equipment.
- Ability to read and interpret schematics, wiring diagrams, technical drawings, and equipment documentation.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Ability and willingness to work hands-on with electronic equipment, test systems, cables, fixtures, and prototypes.
- Ability to communicate effectively with both engineering personnel and hands-on technicians.
- Ability to work independently while managing multiple development and support activities.
- Experience with automated test equipment (ATE), test automation, or manufacturing test systems.
- Experience programming or configuring test equipment and automated test systems.
- Experience designing or building cables, breakout boxes, test fixtures, adapters, and test interfaces.
- Experience with instrumentation such as oscilloscopes, digital multimeters, power supplies, signal generators, network analyzers, or similar equipment.
- Experience developing software or scripts for test automation.
