Calibration Technician

What this job involves:

As an Industrial Calibration Technician at JLL, you'll play a critical role in maintaining and optimizing the instrumentation and control systems that keep manufacturing facilities running safely and efficiently. You'll be responsible for calibrating, troubleshooting, and repairing sophisticated process control equipment while ensuring compliance with quality standards and safety protocols. This hands-on technical position requires both independent problem-solving and collaborative teamwork as you partner with Manufacturing, Laboratory, Engineering, and Maintenance teams to support continuous operations. Your expertise will directly impact facility performance, product quality, and operational reliability, making you an essential part of JLL's facility management excellence.

What your day-to-day will look like:
  • Perform calibrations and scheduled preventive maintenance on analytical and other laboratory instruments
  • Calibrate, troubleshoot, repair, install and modify process control instruments or systems for manufacturing applications
  • Calibrate, troubleshoot, repair, install and modify electronic, electromechanical, and pneumatic control devices for utility systems which support the manufacturing facilities
  • Assist with control systems start-up and validation
  • Write calibration and equipment service reports
  • Write calibration and preventive maintenance Standard Operating Procedures
  • Test control systems and assist in validation of new and existing manufacturing facilities
  • Collect and organize technical data from equipment manufacturers, equipment users and engineering personnel
  • Interact with Manufacturing, Laboratory, and Maintenance, Metrology and Engineering staff members as well as other internal/external customers
  • Review and confirm completion of work orders in CMMS
  • Follow established safety and environmental guidelines and procedures for all work performed; immediately report safety and environmental incidents including injuries, illnesses, near misses, and safety suggestions; foster a positive safety culture in which no one gets hurt


Required Qualifications:
  • 1-2 years of experience in manufacturing process instrumentation and control and/or analytical instrumentation,
  • Minimum 1 year in a cGMP (current Good Manufacturing Practice) environment
  • Completion of an Instrumentation or Industrial Electronics (2-year) curriculum at a technical school, Military PME training, or an AA/AS Degree in a related science or engineering major
  • Ability to pass the Transportation Security Administration (TSA) Security Threat Assessment (STA) for positions requiring warehouse access
  • Ability to read and interpret engineering documents, produce shop schematics, and work independently on routine responsibilities
  • Physical capability to climb 6+ flights of stairs daily, work at heights up to 30 feet using ladders and lifts, and lift up to 60 lbs. as required


Preferred Qualifications:
  • Knowledge of fundamental operating principles of industrial process instrumentation and systems, including PID control theories and techniques
  • Familiarity with relay ladder logic, programmable controllers, Building Management Control Systems (BMCS), and Manufacturing Control Systems (MCS)
  • Strong communication skills (written and oral) with demonstrated ability to interact effectively in team environments and collaborate across multiple departments
  • Experience working in clean room environments with hazardous materials, chemicals, and high-pressure systems (steam, water, air)
  • Strong organizational and time management skills with the ability to maintain detailed technical records and documentation
  • General knowledge of shop tool operation and safety procedures, with experience using air purifying respirators and hearing protection
  • Flexibility to work overtime, varying shifts (including 4-day/10-hour schedules, evening, night, or off-shift hours), and participate in On-Call programs


Location: South San Francisco CA

Work Shift: M-F , 7am to 3:30pm

Estimated compensation for this position:

79,000.00 - 96,900.00 USD per year

This range is an estimate and actual compensation may differ. Final compensation packages are determined by various considerations including but not limited to candidate qualifications, location, market conditions, and internal considerations.
