Full Job Description
The specific pay rate and level will depend on the successful candidate's qualifications, prior experience and location. "A Day in the Life" As the Calibration Automation Engineer, you will be responsible for the implementation and maintenance of TRS-RenTelco's automated metrology programs, maximization of the calibration laboratory's capabilities, and cost reduction initiatives associated with the company calibration program. In this position you will provide technical and production sustaining support for the calibration laboratory by maintaining and calibrating the extensive Laboratory Standards Inventory, solving complex problems, and creating solutions for laboratory personnel. "What You'll Do" • Maintain the extensive Laboratory Standards inventory by calibrating and managing the outsourcing of assets, as required, to support Calibration Laboratory operations in support of General Purpose, RF, Oscilloscopes, Telecommunications and Fiber Optic equipment. • Enhance, validate and maintain state of the art automated metrology solutions operating from various industry platforms • Develop calibration methods and procedures that conform with accepted measurement science practices, established guidelines and universal standards • Identify opportunities for calibration automation that increase laboratory efficiency and throughput • Perform cost analysis studies and propose financially prudent options that will increase in-house calibration capabilities and reduce dependence on external calibration providers • Assist with maintenance and upgrades of the laboratory local area network (LAN) • Assist laboratory personnel with calibration methods and techniques, debugging, troubleshooting, computer related issues, software/firmware installation, etc. • Resolve rental equipment issues by working with external customers as necessary. After hours support may be required • Provide backup production support for the calibration laboratory by calibrating rental inventory equipment as required • Collaborate with team members and contribute to projects in support of the laboratory's accreditation, internal/external audits and other corporate/division/department initiatives as directed • Maintain confidential company and customer information • Enhance the department and company reputation by accepting ownership for accomplishing organizational goals • Perform other duties as assigned "Must Haves" • Extensive experience calibrating and maintaining electronic measuring and test equipment (M&TE) to include RF, General Purpose, Oscilloscopes, Telecommunications and Fiber Optic. • Practical knowledge of measurement uncertainty budgets, measurement decision risk and other metrology related statistics • Strong and varied knowledge of current computer technology encompassing installation, troubleshooting and integration of hardware, software and peripheral equipment • Inherently analytical with sound problem resolution and decision-making skills • Effective interpersonal, written and oral communication skills • Ability to perform in a high pressure environment • Must be a self-starter that requires minimal supervision and direction • Associate's degree or equivalent work experience in electrical metrology • Military PMEL training preferred • Minimum 6 years electrical metrology experience • 2 years calibration procedure writing and/or programming/automation experience desired • Experience working in ISO/IEC 17025, ANSI/NCSLI Z540-1 and ANSI/NCSLI Z540.3 calibration systems • Ability to program in MET/CAL®. Advanced MET/CAL® procedure writing, Agilent Test Management Environment (TME) and Agilent VEE experience is a plus.
