  • Salary Range: $168,900 - $244,300 annually (salary range is based on market data; final salary offered is determined by education, experience, and qualifications of the applicant.)


Job Summary:

The Cabin Safety Manager (CSM) will be responsible for developing and implementing a cabin safety program. The CSM is responsible for passenger and crew safety during all flight phases and will act as a 3rd or 4th crewmember on selected Bechtel Airline Operations (BAO) fights.

Major Responsibilities:

  • Responsible for the safe transportation, storage and preparation of food. Provide food and beverage service only to the level requested by passengers in advance.
  • Conduct pre-flight checks of all safety equipment to confirm its there, sealed and secure.
  • Provide pre-flight briefings when the need is identified by the Pilot in Command.
  • Assist passengers while entering and disembarking the aircraft. Determine special assistance needs of small children, the elderly or disabled passengers.
  • Develop a cadre of additional 'contract' CSM's whose backgrounds align with Bechtel and Fremont's rigorous safety standards and professionalism, such as former United States Air Force Flight Attendants and First Responders.
  • Assess the contractors proficiency in safety protocols. Verify their thorough familiarity with each aircraft type and its safety and medical equipment. Ensure they are briefed on any potential passenger health hazards. Establish annual training program of team.
  • Work with Manager of Dispatch and Director of Operations to track the schedule and identify those flights that would benefit from a CSM.
  • In addition to recurrent annual safety training, conduct regular cabin safety drills and simulations to ensure the cabin crew and pilots are proficient in emergency response and evacuation procedures.
  • Consider the individual needs of both passengers and crew members. Explore strategies for accommodating specific passenger requirements to enhance preparedness for emergencies. Encourage pilots to voice any concerns they may have regarding inflight emergencies without a third crew member present.
  • Be responsible for overseeing all aircraft, both in Oakland and Dulles, with regard to provisioning, maintaining bedding materials etc. Responsible for and liaising with executive offices on dietary requests and requirements.


Education and Experience Requirements:

  • Knowledge of minimum regulatory fuel and alternative airport weather requirements.
  • Familiarity with meteorology, including knowledge of fronts, clouds, icing and upper air data.
  • Knowledge of Air Traffic Control procedures and pilot responsibilities as they relate to enroute operations, terminal area, instrument departure and approach procedures.
  • Ability to apply problem-solving skills to complex aircraft scheduling and flight operations planning.
  • Ability to effectively route plan aircraft in compliance with Federal Aviation Regulations and company policy as they apply to flight and crew duty time limits, airport suitability factors (runway dimensions and precision approach availability), and political consideration of countries to be over flown.
  • Ability and experience in communicating professionally and effectively with executive staff and external vendors.
  • High degree of professional communication, both verbal and written, in routine contacts with international governmental agencies, third-party service companies and intra-company personnel.

  • Current in accepted industry safety training techniques and medical care, to include CPR, AED and basic first aid.
  • Current passport with no limitations on ability to travel internationally at short notice.
