Job Description
Job Title: Pediatric Ambulatory Clinic RN Traveler
Profession: Nursing

Hours per Shift: 8 am - 5 pm
Experience: Three to five years of practical RN experience; outpatient experience preferred. One to two years of practical experience in a physician's office or medical office setting preferred.
License: Current Registered Nurse California license
Certifications: BLS Certification (American Heart Association) required. ACLS & PALS required
Must-Have: Graduate of accredited school of nursing required. Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) preferred.
Description:
Delivers comprehensive nursing care to pediatric patients (newborn to adolescent) in an outpatient ambulatory setting.
Ensures age-appropriate communication and interventions.
Assesses, plans, and implements care for acute and chronic pediatric conditions.
Collaborates closely with providers and multidisciplinary teams.
Administers and documents pediatric immunizations per CDC and state-specific immunization schedules.
Monitors for adverse reactions and provides vaccine education to caregivers.
Ensures adherence to routine well-child visits, developmental screenings, and vaccination catch-up protocols through proactive patient outreach and follow-up.
Coordinates prior authorizations for specialty referrals, medications, diagnostic imaging, and therapies in alignment with insurance and clinic policies.
Maintains strict adherence to infection control practices, including isolation precautions and hand hygiene protocols specific to pediatric populations.
Demonstrates proficiency in Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS).
Responds to pediatric emergencies and assists in stabilization as needed.
Performs routine pediatric procedures including vital signs, vision and hearing screenings, point-of-care testing, and specimen collection (nasal, throat, urine, stool, etc.).
Provides family-centered education on illness prevention, chronic disease management (e.g., asthma, diabetes), and medication adherence tailored to developmental level.
Utilizes EHR systems to accurately document nursing assessments, patient encounters, immunizations, and follow-up actions.
Supports care coordination, including referrals to specialists, social services, and community resources to promote comprehensive pediatric care.
Adapts quickly to new clinical environments and protocols as a travel RN.
Maintains consistent patient safety and care quality across diverse pediatric ambulatory settings.
