Position: Coreshell is seeking a Buyer who will be responsible for the end-to-end purchasing of direct materials, components, equipment, office and facilities supplies, and software. This person will process purchase requests, maintain accurate procurement records, support vendor onboarding and basic sourcing activities, and help ensure expenses stay organized and compliant as the company grows. This individual will be responsible for a variety of procurement and operational execution activities from logistics coordination, managing purchase orders, and vendor management.
Core Responsibilities:
- Own end-to-end purchasing for an assigned portfolio of components, consumables, and capital equipment, from requisition through delivery.
- Issue, track, and expedite purchase orders and proactively resolving delays before they impact R&D and production activities
- Negotiate pricing, lead times, payment terms, and contracts with suppliers to secure favorable, sustainable terms for Coreshell.
- Monitor supplier performance (on-time delivery, quality, responsiveness) and drive corrective action plans when performance slips.
- Identify and execute cost-reduction opportunities through negotiation, alternate sourcing, dual-sourcing, or specification changes.
- Track and mitigate supply chain risk (single-source exposure, allocation, geopolitical/tariff exposure) and escalate issues early.
- Help establish and maintain scalable purchasing processes, controls, and documentation that promote spend discipline, procurement best practices, and audit readiness.
- Ensure purchasing activity complies with Coreshell's procurement policies, approval thresholds, and internal controls.
What We're Looking For:
- Bachelor's degree in Supply Chain Management, Business, Engineering, or a related field, or equivalent practical experience.
- 5-7 years of experience as a buyer, procurement specialist, or supply chain analyst in a manufacturing, hardware, or hard-tech environment.
- Demonstrated experience negotiating with suppliers on cost, terms, and lead time, with a track record of measurable savings.
- Familiarity with sourcing components, consumables, or capital equipment for a manufacturing or production environment.
- Strong Excel/Google Sheets skills.
- Strong organizational and follow-through skills, with the ability to manage a large, dynamic purchase order load.
- Clear, confident written and verbal communication, including comfort negotiating directly with suppliers.
