Full Job Description
Requirements
Buyer: This is where you come in.

We're looking for a Buyer to procure commodities, materials, equipment, and services that keep our projects and operations moving. You'll be responsible for finding the best-value solutions for MMFS while balancing price, quality, availability, delivery, and the needs of our internal teams.

This role requires someone who can build strong relationships with internal business partners and suppliers, understand business needs, communicate expectations clearly, and follow through to ensure materials and services are delivered when needed. You'll have the opportunity to make purchasing decisions, solve problems, develop your industry knowledge, and take ownership of your work.

In return for achieving aggressive goals, you'll get rewarded with more to own, a ton of growth opportunities, and more freedom than you've probably ever had.
Top Deliverables in the First Year to Be a Hero:
  • Collaboration - Build strong relationships with internal teams and suppliers to understand business needs, clarify expectations, and ensure the right materials, equipment, and services are available when needed.
  • Buying & Product Knowledge - Develop a strong understanding of MEP equipment, parts, materials, and specialties while identifying the best-value purchasing solutions for MMFS.
  • Supplier Relationships - Establish productive relationships with suppliers, communicate effectively, negotiate pricing and terms when appropriate, and proactively address purchasing or delivery issues.
  • Execute with Distinction - Consistently meet purchasing goals, follow team best practices, maintain accurate purchasing information, and take ownership from request through delivery.
  • Problem Solving & Continuous Improvement - Identify and resolve purchasing challenges, look for opportunities to improve processes and reduce costs, and make it easier for our teams to get what they need.
  • Team Contribution - Share knowledge, support Associate Buyers and Coordinators, and contribute to a collaborative and high-performing Procurement team.

The Buyer role reports to Ryan Savage, Strategic Sourcing Manager, and is part of a collaborative team working on a variety of projects and initiatives to support our growing business. This highly visible role interacts with all levels and functions across the organization and provides an opportunity to make a meaningful impact on how MMFS purchases the materials, equipment, and services our teams need to succeed.
Your Background: What kind of person will thrive in this role?

You should have...
  • A track record of delivering best-value purchasing solutions through purchasing, procurement, supply chain, or a related function.
  • 3-5+ years of relevant purchasing, procurement, or supply chain experience.
  • Strong working knowledge of the MEP industry, specifically equipment, parts, materials, and specialty products, is strongly preferred.
  • Experience working with suppliers, managing purchasing activities, resolving issues, and balancing competing priorities.
  • Strong communication, organizational, analytical, and problem-solving skills.
  • The ability to work independently, exercise good judgment, and take ownership without needing constant direction.
  • A degree in Supply Chain Management, Business, Construction Management, or a related field is preferred; direct construction or MEP industry experience is highly valued.
  • Working knowledge of Microsoft Great Plains and/or Power BI is a huge plus!

And everyone you work with should describe you as...
  • An innovative thinker who is always looking for better ways to get things done.
  • A collaborative team player who builds strong relationships with internal teams and suppliers.
  • A strong communicator who can clearly understand needs, set expectations, and follow through.
  • Driven to achieve goals and willing to take ownership when something needs to get done.
  • A problem solver who is resourceful and comfortable figuring things out.
  • Reliable and accountable, with a strong commitment to doing what you say you'll do.

And you should be motivated by...
  • A highly collaborative, cross-functional environment where you'll work with teams throughout the organization.
  • Empowering yourself to learn and figure things out. If you need a ton of handholding or a micro-manager boss, this is not the place for you.
  • Making an impact. Your purchasing decisions directly influence cost, quality, availability, delivery, and the success of our teams.
  • Working in a lean, results-oriented environment where you'll be expected to take ownership, learn quickly, and achieve more every year.
  • Having the freedom to own your work and make decisions while knowing you have a supportive team behind you.
  • Having fun in an environment high on transparency, open to innovative new approaches, and built around a supportive family feel.

Benefits

Compensation:
  • Buyer: $71,000-$93,000 annually, based on 3-5 years of relevant purchasing/procurement experience.

MacDonald-Miller Facility Solutions presently provides employee coverage for:
  • Medical, dental, and vision for employees (coverage available for dependents for shared premium).
  • 401k retirement plan including Company matching.
  • Vacation and Sick Compensation (PTO), and Holiday Pay!
  • Disability income protection including short-term and long-term disability.
  • Employee and dependent life insurance.
