TITLE: Buyer
DIVISION: Procurement
REPORTS TO: SVP of Merchandising
FLSA CLASSIFICATION: Exempt/Salary
POSITION OVERVIEW:
Must be able to identify and secure suppliers based on price, quality, and relative need for the sales department as indicated by the area of product category assigned. Negotiate the best deal possible - highest quality at the lowest cost. Demonstrate a technical knowledge base of commodities as assigned.
PRINCIPLE RESPONSIBILITIES:
• Develop and maintain supplier relationship through visits, show attendance and business reviews
• Keep current on and communicate market prices and trends
• Execute orders timely with accuracy for optimum service level
• Resolve problems between supplier and various internal departments in a timely manner
• Evaluate suppliers and items based on price, quality, and service
• Source and/or development of new vendors and products
• Support sales by offering Opportunity Buys, completing bids, negotiating pricing, performing cuttings, and participating in training
• Vendor setup and maintenance (Navision & CRM)
• Maintain all vendor contracts (set up, extensions, renewals, and confidentiality agreements)
SECONDARY RESPONSIBILITIES:
• Buyer coverage
• Undefined functions as needed to support the department
EXPECTATIONS/OUTCOMES:
• Setup and maintain vendors, locations, contacts and items in NAVISION and CRM
• Place orders with vendors in a timely fashion
• Process all confirmations and freight associated with orders in a timely manner
• Ensure all records are maintained in NAVISION and CRM, including pricing, location availability, pack/size, pallet configuration, vendor contact, etc.
• Be proficient in all programs related to the functions of the responsibilities above
• Demonstrate initiative and problem solving
• Maintain base of sales and margins over previous period, working to exceed financial objectives in this area as indicated by manager
• Continue to develop relationships with key suppliers and seeking additional suppliers as deemed necessary for the categories assigned
• Work independently, establish priorities, and make decisions

REQUIRED SKILLS:
• Excellent skill in both verbal and written communication
• Skill in establishing and maintaining effective working relationships
• Customer Service focus/excellent phone skills
• Proficient in Microsoft office
• Work independently, establish priorities, and make decisions
EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE:
• 2 years of buyer experience
• Bachelor's degree preferred
Salary: $85,000-$95,000
