Full Job Description
The Buyer is responsible for procuring materials to meet customer demand and manufacturing schedules. Coordinates products through the complete production cycle including outside services. Develops supply plans for raw material and assembly components to optimize manufacturing and assembly processes based on demand forecasts, manufacturing capacity and availability of materials. Evaluates and analyzes data regarding processes and systems. Maintains planning parameters in the ERP system. Resolves problems with inventory, production schedules, or materials shortages and recommends countermeasures to avoid future problems. Establishes a balance between vendors and internal and external customers based on supply and demand for materials and finished goods. Onboards new vendors and supports supplier development with feedback on performance and supplier self-assessments.

Primary Responsibilities:
  • Procure materials for custom sales orders and forecast orders
  • Request quotations on materials and coordinate with Sales, Engineering & Materials Team to provide lead times for customer quotes.
  • Review incoming materials against the manufacturing schedules to ensure the demand plan is met. Coordinate with Planning and Sales on updates to vendor commitments and impact to schedule. Develop action plans and counter measures.
  • Resolve vendor line stopping issues. Ensure the supply of products meets quality and delivery standards
  • Analyze Supply and Demand at the Item, Customer Order and Master Schedule levels. Determines out of balance conditions, identifies alternatives, and recommends actions.
  • Collaborate with the Sales, Inventory, Operations and Planning team to ensure that vendors are aligned with SIOP commitments.
  • Liaison with Quality and Engineering to hold vendors accountable to standards using Supplier Correction Action Requests (SCARS) and generate Vendor Scorecards.
  • Drive lean culture by implementing inventory strategies to reduce inventory and meet our customer commitments.
  • Create paperwork for USMCA, COO, Reach, RoHs & Prop65
  • Collaborate with New Product Introduction team (NPI) to ensure the successful launch of new products from engineering design to production in the factory.
  • Back-up for other Buyer and Planner as required
  • Establish and maintain standard work including training materials for area of responsibility


Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's degree in manufacturing supply chain or equivalent/related fields
  • 3- 5 years of experience in role progressively increasing responsibilities in purchasing, planning, and inventory control within a lean Manufacturing environment
  • Self-starter who seeks out ways to improve processes and seeks out solutions before being asked.
  • The ability to manage time and balance multiple projects at once in an organized way.
  • Must be proficient in Excel and data analysis software tools, specifically advanced formulas and logic.
  • Strong collaboration abilities with Operations, Engineering, Sales, Customer Service and Management
  • Ability to thrive in a fast-paced environment.
  • Excellent Verbal and Written Communication


Preferred Qualifications:
  • Supply chain certifications - APICS & ASCM
  • Optics Experience

This position is also eligible for bonus as part of the total compensation package.

Pay Range
The salary range for this position (in local currency) is 61,500.00 - 102,700.00
